Personally, I would like to see real football people running the Jets (and go for a name change) and tapping into the Hunters rich football heritage.

Like others, I am sure there would be plenty of investors around if Con and his discredited Liberal failures were run out of the place.

Until then.............crash and burn :)

Anyone read about con's 5YP on the jets website?
Very vague for a plan. Includes sponsors investing and a youth academy.
Does not spell anything out. Why accept corprate dollars at all if not to field a strong first team, the basis for the whole club?

Yeah, I saw it the other day Jesus. I was going to post it but then I thought it says nothing and is just rhetoric.

Total crap, similar to every other article on their website. Whoever writes their articles should be out of a job.

The same sponsors which have not been there for 3 seasons?

thomas is on the money with this one

there are plenty of people ready and willing to get involved in an a-league team but won't have a bar of it because of con and his credit record

also, con has rejected plenty of willing sponsors because of his own personal decisions

the company willing to pay for durante's service agreement was just one small example
That's just like all of the sponsors that came in to sponsor Adelaide United after Bob d'Ottavi pulled Adelaide City out of the NSL.

GVE is obviously taking some seriously powerful stuff these days.

The following deluded crap is on 442

"We need to have a real swagger about us. Not an arrogant swagger but an aura that when we go to play teams they feel it is the Newcastle Jets coming to play.

"The likes of the Real Madrids, the Bayern Munichs, the Manchester Uniteds and Chelseas. We need to have that same aura."

do you think he believes this shit or does someone write it for him??

FFA shows interest in Dutchy for dual roles

NEWCASTLE Jets coach Gary van Egmond has been approached by Football Federation Australia officials to gauge his interest in the head coaching job at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

Van Egmond revealed last night that he had fielded an "informal" inquiry about the AIS position, vacated recently by Steve O'Connor, who was also coach of the Young Socceroos.

FFA officials were rumoured to have sought out van Egmond for the dual roles, but Newcastle's A-League championship-winning coach said he had not pursued the approach and had no plans to do so.

"They asked me a long, long time ago about it, but I've had no correspondence about it," van Egmond said.

"I guess they're just looking at who is available.

"My mail is they're getting someone from overseas."

Asked to elaborate on the approach, Van Egmond said: "It was a fairly informal message on my phone, but I never really responded to it.

"It was along the lines of, 'I hear that sort of job is going, are you interested?' sort of thing. That's about as much contact as I had."

He was surprised by rumours linking him to the positions and said he had no plans other than preparing the Jets for their title defence.

"I've got two more years at the Jets, and I'm very happy where we are," he said.

"I've got no plans of doing anything, other than getting the team organised."

He declined to reveal the identity of the FFA employee who approached him.

"I'd prefer not to," he said. "It was someone within the FFA, but I'd prefer not to say who that is. It was a fairly informal message on the phone. I do speak to that person reasonably regularly."

Van Egmond has been a revelation since replacing Nick Theodorakopoulos as Jets coach, guiding them to the play-offs then a premiership in his first two seasons.
