    ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. Yes but the population of Edinburgh is only about 450,000.Glasgows official population these days is about 630,000 but that is misleading due to succesive boundary changes making the city area smaller.The population in 1961 was over a million.There are thousands of soap dodgers living beyond the city boundarys.
Also after the 2nd World War a number of new towns were build around the country to take the over spill of soap dodgers out of Glasgow so they could clear out the slum areas like the Gorbals.
As a result the rest of the country has been infested with soap dodgers who travel every week to follow their teams.
So there you go skilbeck a wee history lesson for ye!

Oh and by the way I'm married to the daughter of a soap dodger frae the Gorbals so don't be giving me any lip or........... :headbutt: glesga kiss!

Actually Glasgows  a really nice city now I believe......has become quite trendy which is a far cry from the place I remember.My wife and daughter were there last year visiting relatives.

There are Celtic and Rangers supporters all over the place.Not sure that I could advise of a Celtic friendly or otherwise place.
You say you don't like cities but remember apart from Glasgow and Edinburgh the next biggest city is Dundee whose population is only about 200,000....a big village really.
My wife doesn't come from there but she did her nurses training there and loved living there.There is a pretty big student population.Ninewells hospital where she trained was the biggest training hospital in Europe at that time.Had a really good pub scene aswell.I believe it still does.
There are plenty of nice little villages etc within easy travelling distance of major centres but I have no idea how easy it would be to get accomodation.
When are you thinking of heading over there?

if i get an engineering job next year when i (hopefully) graduate, i will go over in 2011 for about 1 year to all of Europe but mostly UK, and Ireland. If I can get a working visa (of which im ineligible to work in Europe :( ) I might stay for longer perhaps even bordering on indefinitely if i like it, a few places come to mind for me to move to: Aberdeen is the centre of the European Oil Industry and I am a process engineer so lots of jobs there, But im sure there is quite a bit of processing industry in Glasgow, Edinburgh or even northern England.

Aberdeen isn't a bad place despite the sheepshagger population.Perth is another nice place.Don't know about the work thing though.The perthshire countryside is beautiful though.My grandad was a perthshire farmer so I spent a lot of time there as a kid.
Did you see my post about Scotland possibly stepping in to replace Poland and Ukraine for EURO 2012?Probably won't happen but if it did you could be in the right place at the right time!

Scotland and Eire did bid for EURO 2008 as a joint bid but Scotland are looking at doing this on their own if it gets taken away from Poland/Ukraine.
Aberdeen and Dundee/DUFC would get new stadiums built and there would need to be another two new or redeveloped stadiums.
Thinking ahead I was thinking about joining the official Scotland travel club so I had a chance of tickets if it did happen.

They are talking Hampden,Parkhead,Ibrox,Murrayfield,New Aberdeen stadium,New Dundee stadium(shared after by the 2 Dundee clubs) and two others.Minimum capacity required is 30,000.

well they arent exactly going to put 30k stadium out in Inverness thats only 10k people less than the population Dunfermline might get a look and and so might Perth but you really need to share with Ireland on a future bid

I agree with you there.I have no idea where else they are thinking of playing games.Of course it's all pie in the sky at the moment anyway until a decision is made on Poland/Ukraine.

I guess its better to get the pain over and done with early on in the season isnt it arab? :p
