Just goes to show what can happen if we shoot. Needs to be much more of it.
Well, we had more shots on target however they were all directly at Sail for the most part, we got lucky that his blunder gifted us a point.
The real issue is maintaining possession and generating avenues to progress up the pitch without the boys confusing purple jerseys as our own players.... WAY too many misplaced passes tonight if you ask me...

Think back to preseason and ACL games. We were too vulnerable to mistakes and counter attacks in the ACL games and early a-league.
(Not that much has changed)

Then he tried the back 5 (in defence) and it stabilised some draws especially after Tapp got injured.

And he decided to settle on it after doing a half here and there at Adelaide maybe? And got worse by changing it to back 4 however it is all circumstantial as if you are chasing the game the game opens up and you are more vulnerable anyway.

Mauragis and Piz however definitely did have lots of added value tonight and are 2 of the 3 pieces to the puzzle to try and get us back to a different tactical or formation standpoint.

Actually 2 out of 4 pieces to the puzzle as need Tapp back but more importantly an inform striker that Eames and Piz can feed.

He got very very lucky. He was completely gone on 3 or 4 of their near misses. Did well a couple of times too.
What's so tough about giving the young lad any credit mate? 18 years old, first season as a starting keeper in professional football replacing a club legend and his performances have been more than passable. Is a good shot stopper, reads the game decently well, getting better with his distribution and his all round game will only get better. Back him in, he's our starting keeper and deserves the support.

Mauragis and Piz were both poor but at least they tried to play forward which was something. Piz will improve but Mauragis as a middy is a no no.

With this formation it continually leaves the middle of the pitch wide open when Eames/Steele/Alfie are on the back foot. If we are playing for this presumed width the wide players need to cross a bloody ball. Then we lose it and no one is in the middle. It's mind blowing that we are persisting with it. If Jacko thought we did better 2nd half I have no idea. Perth had so many chances to bury that game after halftime. As others mentioned Faisal and Theo simply needed flipping.

We've just got to make sure that they don't reinjure themselves, even though they've been cleared medically to play, reoccurring injuries are a real worry sadly. However, I do agree they did add much needed value tonight but sadly I think it will take a few actual games before they will be back to their full potential. But again, I don't want to see them reinjure themselves (especially with other teams knowing they're fresh back from injury, potentially making them a target)

I honestly thought we should’ve been up at half time, perth came home strong but we still had enough of the ball and created enough half chances to win that. We got a very lucky goal thanks to a retardation in their GK. Maybe I’m showing some retardation because I certainly didn’t think it was f**king abysmal. Frustrating? f**king oath. But more good signs, same old signs of not being clinical. For the most part, defence was solid enough. Perths goal was a genuinely good finish from a genuinely good assist. I didn’t mind Brian stepping in aggressively, Lachie just got there a fraction before him. Fantastic strike from Taggart (wish he played for us). DPC had a very good shot stopping game. I thought Jacko f**ked up in not bringing Scicluna on much earlier, Haine and steely were visibly cooked from about the 70th.

And can people stop saying we still play a back 5? It’s a 442 without the ball and a 343 with the ball.

I cant wait to complement him Josh but he is a huge problem at the moment and its stupid to ignore it.
I get that he is 18yo and i can see he has good potential. He is not the only one that is a problem. We could have easily conceeded 4 goals tonight against a very average side due to the shite in front of him but he wasn't saving any of those shots either. Shots that Jamie Young, Birraz or a 59yo Vuka would stop a couple of.

Can you tell me the number by which he increased his goal scoring tally tonight?
Missed the point entirely, surprise surprise their goal is a Wales assist. Certain folk bagged him out here saying he was no great loss and glad we didn't sign him and he doesn’t score goals. My view was he's very strong at assists (which we need) and lo and behold our cheapness to not sign him has cost us 2 points tonight as he provides the assist to Taggart.

Here's a 'shit sandwich' opinion piece of tonight's late-night viewing experience and future

++ We got two very good threats back tonight from injury.
-- We secured a point away, a long way away.
++Some nice dribbling in tight spaces and chasing the ball.
-- With another draw tonight, sigh, we may have sealed our finals destiny.
++ We could still go undefeated the rest of the season and make it?
-- Once again, we give up an early goal to chase.
++ We held them scoreless for nearly the entire game.
-- Questionable side or back passing, dribbling, and loss of momentum forward.
++ Our very young talent scored again, which also helped us secure a new club record!
-- We need to work on not kicking the ball into the stands over the goal. Header's practice may not hurt either.
++ We never gave up. And there was excellent tracking back by all.
-- We have to fly back over the continent, recover, and play again Tuesday night.
++ We have a game LIVE at HOME on Tuesday. This Tuesday. 7:00 kick-off and tickets available.
-- In addition to a rain forecast, catering at said upcoming match has the potential to leave you wanting and waiting.
++ But most of all, we wake up tomorrow knowing we are not the Jets.

Apparently cumdog was at the game but jacko says we can’t afford him :(
If we can't even afford Wales we're not gonna get Dingo back. It'll sting if he ends up at another Aleague side.

Strange how a draw can feel like a loss. An away point is actually not a bad result, we need wins so badly though it doesn't feel very positive.

Doesn't have the cattle 🤷🏻‍♂️

If we don’t have the cattle why are we playing a slow, possession style of football then? Also, we are so unfit?

At least Monty understood that if you cant get the best footballers you have the fittest and fastest team in the comp and you play a fast, counter attacking game.

We had so much verticality with Monty and also Jacko last season. This season our default is to pass backwards. That is tactics not cattle.
