ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I was originally really really hoping Ben Cahn got the job, but I spose if it had to be Ufie I’d be ok with it. But the more I think about it, the more I think f**k hiring Talay. He’s been at a club with more money and a much bigger catchment of youth than we’ll ever have and he’s won exactly f**k all. He’s someone we would’ve been content with it the bad old days. Ben Cahn is a f**king winner. A truly Mariners hire. We don’t do others has beens any more. We dont go the safe boring route any more. Staj after the Matildas shit show. An untested Monty at this level. And Ben f**king Cahn. Anything else isn’t the Mariners way.

Lots can go wrong post-Monty if the wrong man comes in.
I was just thinking the same. Not just morale and poor performances, poor crowds etc but a possible exodus of players following Beni, Sam and Monty selling themselves quickly while their stocks are high instead of at a lower value if we do crap.

The decision is never being made before next weeks game. I see it as an audition for Abbas, is the transition pains minimal under him? We’ll see. Perhaps we can raise our expectations the week after..

I just hope Abbas has a decent support crew in the mean time, assistant manager and GK coach. I assume Brice is still the fitness coach.

Lucas Vilela is his assistant - u20s NPL coach and assistant for first grade. Top, top bloke with a very very good football brain.

I'm not sure anyone can treat this as an audition for Abbas. He's not going to be implementing anything other than team sheet and substitutions. Everything else will be straight from the Monty play book. There's been no time for him to change or own anything to do with this team.

However, it seems as if it’s only a matter of time before CahnBall is seen on an even bigger stage. Cahn has been linked with the vacant Central Coast Mariners head coaching role following the departure of Championship winning boss Nick Montgomery for Scottish side Hibernian.

Ben Cahn (right) during his time at Central Coast Mariners.
He previously worked at the club between 2015-17 in a myriad of different roles, most notably as assistant coach to Paul Okon.

Portions of the Mariners fanbase have called for the club’s hierarchy to take a punt on the untried A-Leagues boss, showcasing just how popular he is.

It remains to be seen whether they will opt to go down the untried route again, or opt for an experienced boss like Ufuk Talay or Warren Moon – who have both also been linked with the job – but Cahn’s work at both Knights and Olympic FC has shown he should be deeply considered for such a position.
