Watched the boys at training last week in wet conditions.

Some of them were very sharp.

I'm expecting a lively performance from us but this Thai side will be a handful.

This excites me, wombat, obviously they’re going to be fitter than the first acl game. We played some beautiful footy for 50minutes of that match amongst the lack of full fitness and rust issues. You’re right, this Thai team ain’t easy. Personally, I’m quite confident though. I’m expecting the lads to be assertive and on the front foot like they were in MD 1, but for the full 90 this time round.

First 15 Mins was good. After that we got outclassed by a slick side.

Some starting players didn't contribute much.

You underestimate Buriram Utd at your own peril.
I certainly didn’t after watching their game against Vissel Kobe but perhaps the team did tonight?

I can take being beaten by a better side but the two goals we conceded were very avoidable and we carried too little threat all night.

I really don’t rate McAlmont yet and would rather see Steele alongside Tapp to give a firmer midfield base, with Alfie perhaps playing the Niz role to see how he goes there?

Agreed, yet to see anything of quality from McAlmont either.

Yep, and we haven't seen anything close to what will be our starting 11 yet either
I found the starting line up a bit puzzling given what we have seen so far and who you would expect to be our best XI. I dont know if Jackson was letting players have their shot, if there were injuries or maybe some tactics like thinking we would be able to sub on some quality and apply more pressure at the back end of the match but whatever it was seemed to be a bad call for a must win game if we wanted to be in contention to advance.

TBH - if we want to progress in the ACLE we need to convince Vuka to be part of the ACLE squad even if not the ALM squad. One of the young keepers may blossom during the season - but with only 6 more games in the group round of the ACLE we do not have time to wait for that.

Based on form so far, and assuming no injuries (fingers crossed for Sains)
my starting 11 would be:

Warshawsky
Roux, Sainsbury, Kaltak, Mauragis
Steele, Tapp
Doka, Di Pizio, Ngor
Kuol

Bench: Edmo, Feijão, Theo, McCalmont, Herrington, Pavlesic, (fringes: De Lima, Kuz, Smith, Scicluna, Duarte, Brandtman, Eames)

Honestly, Alou and Edmo are on par as being equally ineffective so toss a coin on that one.

Here's the whole squad top choose from:
GK: Adam Pavlesic, Jack Warshawsky, Dylan Peraić-Cullen , Jai Ajanovic
Def: Trent Sainsbury, Brian Kaltak, Diesel Herrington, Nathan Paull, Cher Deng, Parker Williams, Rocco Smith
LB: Lucas Mauragis, Noah Smith
RB: Mikael Doka, Storm Roux, Sasha Kuzevski
Mids: Harrison Steele, Brad Tapp, Alfie McCalmont, Lucas Scicluna, Will Wilson, Haine Eames,
LW: Christian Theoharous, Vitor Feijão,
RW: Miguel Di Pizio, Sabit James Ngor
Att: Alou Kuol, Ryan Edmondson, Bailey Brandtman, Nicholas Duarte, Arthur De Lima

Based on on recent performances of starting off well for first 15/20min we need the creative out early then experience to hold the game.

Better to go out there to score first and win the game then to leave the more direct/creative on the bench.

Doka——Roux——Kaltak——Maragus
———————Tapp—————————-
Feajio——-Alfie———Di Pizio——-Ngor
———————De-Lima———————-

Alou/Kuveski - On
Feajio - Off

Steele - On
Di Pizio - Off

Edmo - On
De Lima - Off

Theo - On
Ngor - Off

He just wouldn’t be fit enough. It took him a good number of games to get up to speed and at his best. One game every few weeks wouldn’t be enough for him being effective.

With Sainsbury out for many months now, we should probably grab a decent CB injury replacement until the end of January.
