I find it amusing that there are people convinced DWH is fragile somehow, physically and mentally.

He's copped one unfortunately timed injury, and that's it.

We know he has pace, can bang in a goal, and can think.
We know Monty can turn a Jets Silvera into a Mariners Silvera.
AND we know without a doubt that Monty rates DWH highly.

I'm excited by his potential frankly.
One of the things I like about Reddit is the remindme bot.
@adz get cracking ?

April 7th vs WU...yellow card while on the bench for hassling the ref while he was doing a VAR review, that played a part in the perspective that he's got a temper/ego that might interfere with his game. I do agree he's got a lot of potential, just hope he can listen and be coached.

Really stretching for reasons to hate the bloke there.
Don't hate him at all, that one stuck in the memory though for all the wrong reasons. I'm sure he'll be fine, it was early on in his time under Monty and I'm sure we'll see a great player this season.

No one hates him. Just don't think he will make the impact as he won't get the starts.
Maybe off the bench or injury cover
Why wouldn’t he get the starts?
Tulio has a lock on one of the 2 striker spots. Alou famously is more of an impact player. Why are you assuming he’s going to be a starter from the get go?

Whilst I’m sure he’s improved since being in Germany, from the u23 roo’s games I saw him in he still wasn’t out of this world in technical ability, still with the big heavy touches etc. He’s an athlete more than a skilful footballer. DWH is more of a footballer than an athlete imo.

Both have huge positives. Both are big favourites of Monty. But polar opposite styles. I like both of them too, we have big competition for that 2nd striker spot. Hopefully the best man wins.
Pretty ignorant to think DWH won’t start games though

Alou looked woefully short of match sharpness in the Olyroo matches - missing tap ins that he should've buried.

I'm expecting that to be fully addressed by Monty and that he'll be raring to go. Hoping to see him and DWH fighting hard for minutes and pushing each other to ever higher levels.

I don’t subscribe to your comments that the two are polar opposite players. They are both fast, direct and mobile strikers with an almost identical professional goal scoring ratio. DWH is slightly (only slightly) a more technical player but Kuol is more powerful, taller and physical. In this league this means he starts.

And what makes you think DWH is a Monty favourite? Things can change dramatically in a year when a coach gets to work with that player on a daily basis.

Pretty savvy stuff to insert the buy out clause in the renewed contract. Best of luck to him. High quality player.
Jets will be fuming.
