started off with a loss at home - 1-2 to Schalke...

don't know what to say about the match. it actually was a match against schalke that we are used to, but no red card yesterday...Schalke are one of the most unfair teams I have ever seen. the ref contributed the rest

we haven't won against Schalke since 1999

we started not that well yesterday, Schalke could have easily led 1:0 or even 2:0 after 15mins. but then we started getting better and played really well - but just until the box was arrived. but who should score if you don't have a striker who is able to?????? so, Schalke made a counterattack and Kuranyi scored - it was offside but the refs didn't see it

we tried to equalize right after half time but Mintal lost his nerves so Schalke could do a counterattack again - 2:0 :(

Eigler had the chance to make the 2:1 but failed. it started getting better when Charisteas came on after 70 mins. it was him he assisted Mintal scoring the 2:1 in the 88th minute which was way too late....we tried to score the 2:2 but it didn't happen.

Neither Vidosic nor Spiranovic were in the squad

Yesterday, it became clear that we do not an additional striker or offensive midfielder who is able to score otherwise it will be a very very tough season.

We are playing Frankfurt away next week (not going there) who have won 3:2 away to Bremen

--------------------

the draw for the 2nd round in the cup was as well yesterday:

we are playing at home against Hoffenheim; the match will be played either on Sep 22 or Sep 23 and might be covered on tv

Matchday 2: we are playing Frankfurt away

the squad will likely be the same as last week - so no Spiro and Vido :( unless someone else is injured

this is going to be a tough match; Frankfurt won 3:2 away to Bremen last week whereas we lost 1:2 at home.

we need a draw at least. if not, we will be under huge pressure next week...

2nd match - 1st point

achieved a 1:1 draw

actually this result is a fair one although we were the better team

Frankfurt  scored after 17mins which was their first attack and had 2 real good chances in the 2nd half

we played really well till the box but failed to score. It got better when the coach replaced both strikers after 55 mins. Charisteas was a lot better than Eigler. Charisteas made the assist for Bunjaku's goal.

We even scored a 2nd one but it was denied due to an offside position - wrong decision  :redcard:

we're just 1 point behin Bayern  ;D

we play Hanover at home next Saturday

round 3: playing Hanover at home

only 1 change in the squad: Boakje is out injured, so Charisteas will start...
could be the chance for Vido as he will likely be on the bench now

Hanover's coach quit his job yesterday, so will be interesting to see if the team (in this case Hanover) will be better than in the last matches.
It is said that Lothar Matthus will get the job in Hanover...

boakye is pretty good, so that's a worry. with any luck the coach has the good sense to give charisteas the hook by 60m or so and have someone who gives a damn up front.

well Boakye wasn't that good so far. but as it is known now he has played with a groin injury since the match against St. Pauli in April. but it's not working anymore...

my fears are that Charisteas will make a quite good match whereas the 2nd striker, Eigler, will play as the last matches: he was shit!

You don't need any of those chumps though when you have Marek Mintal. ;D

lol
yeah, that's right. he is our "life insurance"  :)

we'll never let him go anywhere else ;D

well, not so sure what to say about today's match.

the positive thing is that Vido was back on the bench. but that remains the only positive aspect.

I haven't seen such a poor performance from Nrnberg for a very long time.
We started really well as the first 10mins were great to watch. but then we lost control :(

Hanover scored 2 easy goals (one in each half) and deserved the win; also missed a penalty.

Charisteas scored 2 offside goals...

we still have just 1 point which is way to less...
today's match made clear that we urgently need a striker and an offensive midfielder. but I doubt that we will sign a new player in the current transfer window...

Matchday 4, gained a 0:0 draw away to Stuttgart
we still have only 2 points and can get last of the table later today...

actually, it feels like a loss as we had 10 great chances to score. But Vidosic, Charisteas, Risse and especially Pinola missed. Pinola had the best chance in the 90th min when he just needed score into the empty goal - but missed.

the match was a lot better than last week. especially Vidosic and Risser were great on the wings.

next match is on Sep 12, when we play Mnchengladbach at home :)

A draw at Stuttgart's not bad. The side just need to get some rhythm together and start putting results on the board. The defence seems to be pretty sound, so that's one half of a good team sorted. ;)

We signed a new striker on the last day of the transfer window.
it is the 20yo striker Jan-Eric Maxim Chuopo Mutong (he is a German) from Hamburg.

actually, an experienced striker would have been better...

that's a pity that he missed that. but we had a lot of chances before that one so it was our fault that we didn't score and just drawed...

we are playing Bayern Munich away after the match against Mnchengladbach
