I think I read somewhere that Brede Hangeland(outstanding Fulham Centre-back) is off to possibly Chelsea or Man City in the Summer transfer window..so maybe Spiro is being viewed as a possible replacement

i'm guessing the hauptmarkt was just one huge party last night? :pirashoot:

the club deserves it - the second half of the season was just terrific, they had such a good run and really should have had automatic promotion sorted.

shows 1860 and fuerth who's boss too. ;D

next season, survival and beating bayern again should be first objectives i guess?

:) :) :) :) :)

not really...there was just some kind of 'party' in the stadium together with the fans...the team was on the main stand, the fans were on the pitch...but this party was very lame

after that the team went to the city to have dinner together and celebrated on their own

that's a normal party - the Cup victory was an exception

but actually, we are used getting promoted, so no need to celebrate that much :)

How much money do you get for going up Happy?

honestly, I don't know if we get any money for going up to Bundesliga 1. we just get more money from the TV revenue pool
this is a pool in which all revenues out of tv coverage get in and it is distributed amongst all clubs of Bundesliga 1 and Bundesliga 2. a certain key is applied i.e. less monex for Bundesliga 2 and more for Bundesliga 1. how much each club gets depends on its placing on the table of the last 3 years (not sure of that)...

but I don't think that we get money just for going up

Season 2008/2009 unfortunately in Bundesliga 2...

The aim of that season was getting promoted right after the relegation a season prior. We started with a different squad than in Bundesliga 1 but with the same coach he wasnt able to safe us and should lead us now back? The majority of the fans were against that but he stayed
We won the 1st match at home but it wasnt anything good. Cant say that much about the matches following that one as I went to Australia in between. My only wish was that when I was coming back the coach has left: it happened  ;D

So we started again in that season with Michael Oenning as the new coach. He is totally different than his predecessor- He relied on young players and had a real concept.
The matches got better and with that the results as well. Won the 1st time away in that season in early November (away to Ingolstadt).
The turning point of the season was the derby against Fuerth in November which we won 2:1; after that we havent lost till the winter break.

Dibo and Ally, I hope you liked watching the matches in Nuremberg and Munich you were lucky enough to see 2 of the better matches this season  ;)

So we finished 8th with just 25 points in December far away from promotion.

After the winter break we had lost hope that we get promoted this year. But everything changed when the team started an impressive run: not losing at home since November and just losing 1 away match (to Aachen in February). So it happened what had to happen: we got closer and closer to the 1st 3 spots.

In that time a player who actually should have gone away on loan to Denmark became our match winner Dario Vidosic: he secured us 7 points with he 3 goals he scored.
The 2nd player who secured us very important points was Marek Mintal who finally became best striker in the league :)

At the end of the season we turned 3rd and had to play 2 play off matches against the 16th of Bundesliga 1 Energie Cottbus. No one thought about returning back from Cottbus with a 3:0 win so that the 2nd leg of these play off matches were a party won 2:0 at home.

So we are finally back in Bundesliga 1 where we actually belong to  :)

The season is going to start on August 8th 2009.

The new season 2009/2010 is coming ahead

we will play our season opening match (before the official season starts) against Glasgow Rangers

German Dates Confirmed

By Andrew Dickson

RANGERS will meet 1. FC Nurnberg in a glamour friendly as part of their pre-season tour of Germany next month.

Walter Smith's men will take on the side recently promoted back to the Bundesliga at their 47,500-capacity Frankenstadion on Sunday 26 July.

Rangers play Bayern Munich in the Cup Winners Cup final in Nuremberg in 1967Gers will also play regional sides Sportfreunde Lotte 1929 and SC Wiedenbruck 2000 whilst they are abroad.

But their clash with the 2007 German Cup champions is the match of their three warm-up fixtures on the continent that catches the eye.

Nurnberg were third in last term's 2. Bundesliga and went on to win a two-legged play-off with Energie Cottbus 5-0 on aggregate to secure their passage back to the top flight.

Now, under coach Michael Oenning, they are hoping to recapture the form that saw them reach the last 32 of the UEFA Cup less than 18 months ago.

That season, Nurnberg drew 2-2 at Zenit St Petersburg in the competition before the Russians went on to beat Rangers 2-0 in the final at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Although they suffered relegation soon after, they are back amongst Germany's best sides again and will represent a tough test for the Ibrox outfit.

Kris Boyd scores for Rangers in a 3-1 win over Sportfreunde Lotte in July 2008Of course, Gers have been to the Frankenstadion in the Bavarian city of Nuremberg before, losing 1-0 there to Bayern Munich in the 1967 European Cup Winners' Cup final.

Although its general look is much the same as it was over 40 years ago, the venue has been significantly modernised and it was used during the World Cup finals in 2006.

It staged five matches in all, including England's 2-0 group win against Trinidad and Tobago and Portugal's famously bad-tempered 1-0 round of 16 win over Holland.

Sportfreunde Lotte 1929 - Rangers' first opponents of the tour - are a team Smith took his side to play last summer in the North Rhine-Westphalia area.

As such, their compact 6,000-capacity PGW Arena will be familiar to the Light Blues fans who make a habit of following the SPL champions to their summer fixtures.

The Jahnstadion, home of SC Wiedenbruck 2000Kris Boyd's double and John Fleck's first senior goal for the club ensured the visitors left with a 3-1 victory on that occasion 11 months ago.

The match with Lotte, who were 10th in last season's Regionalliga West - the German fourth tier - is on Friday 24 July at 7pm local time.

After the trip to Nuremberg, Gers will complete their schedule with a game at SC Wiedenbruck 2000 just 15km from their Marienfeld base.

Co-managed by Englishman Marc Hunt, Wiedenbruck play in their country's fifth tier and the match there is on Tuesday 28 July.

It also kicks off at 7pm locally, while the starting time for the Nurnberg friendly has yet to be confirmed.
