well, what shall I say about the match...
actually, it was a good away match with both could have won - so a draw is the fair result BUT not on the last match days

luckily or unfortunately Fuerth has lost against Mainz. so we are now 3rd for sure and Mainz is 2nd now with 3points ahead of us

if Mainz loses next week at home against Oberhausen and we win against 1860 we will be 2nd and get promoted directly...but as this is a real impossible scenario we have to play 2 additional matches after the season - the play off ones

these will take place May 28 (6pm CET) away and May 31 (3.30pm CET) at home

Vidosic came on for the 2nd half but he wasn't as good today as he was in the last matches

Dario Vidosic and Matthew Spiranovic are in the preliminary (?) squad for your world cup qualifiers in June (according to fcn.de)

but I doubt that Matthew may play...hasn't played since November and I am not really sure if is already back in training again as he had to miss out some trainings due his injury after being back in training in March

Just watching Wolfsburg playing Werder Bremen.

Looks like Bremen are suffering a hangover from the UEFA Cup final.

3-0 to Wolfsburg after only 25 mins.Good game.

I think that they (Bremen) are just saving themelves as they play the Cup final next Saturday against Leverkusen.

Btw if it stays like that, i.e. Wolfsburg win they are this years German Champion...

3-1 at half time.

Bremen pulled one back 5 mins after the 3rd.

Wolfsburg champions.......not the most well known of German teams outside of Germany. Is it a surprise they are doing so well happy ?

I am a bit ambivalent regarding Wolfsburg and their championship...on the one hand it is good that Bayern hasn't made it this year but on the other hand I can imagine better clubs than Wolfsburg.
You know, the investor that is behind Wolfsburg is the car manufacturer VW so they have money nearly endlessly...it's more like that they have purchased this triumph

but I have to admit that they've played quite good and attractive football, especially in the 2nd leg of that season as they were just 9th after the 1st leg...

I doubt that they will repeat a season like that next year as the coach, Felix Magath, moves to Schalke 04

I didn't realise they were so cashed up.

Unfortunately they're not the first and won't be the last team to buy a championship.

A certain London team in blue owned by a Russian spring to mind!

4-1 now.

and they will be cashed up in the follwing seasons as well...VW don't want to cut their money despite the financial crisis...

there is a 2nd team in Bundesliga 1 now which is even more cashed up than Wolfsburg. It's Hoffenheim, its investor is Dietmar Hopp, the founder of the software giant SAP. he even build them as stadium, and invested more than 10million this season. fortunately, they are just finishing in the middle of nowhere after they were 1st after the 1st leg...
he wants to invest even more next season than he did this one...

I'll watch them with interest next season then. The owner will be expecting  better than a mid table finish for that sort of money.

5-1 Wolfsburg now.

They're in party mode now!

Wolfsburg or Hoffenheim?
Honestly, I am hoping that both finish in the middle of nowhere, regarding the table...

Bielefeld - Hanover 2:2
Moenchengladbach - Dortmund 1:1
Frankfurt - Hamburg 2:3
Bayern Munich - Stuttgart 2:1
Cologne - Bochum 1:1
Schalke 04 - Hoffenheim 2:3

the ladder looks like this:
1. Wolfsburg
2. Bayern Munich
3. Stuttgart
4. Berlin
5. Hamburg
6. Dortmund
7. Hoffenheim
8. Schalke 04
9. Leverkusen
10. Bremen

I was talking about Hoffenheim.

I understand where you're coming from regarding them finishing in the middle of nowhere.

last matchday of Bundesliga 2 as well
regarding the surprises of yesterdays matchday I am confident that sth like that will happen today as well - hopefully Mainz will lose and we win :) then we are 2nd and would get promoted directly

we are playing 1860 today at home, in a sold out stadium

as mentioned we need to win, and then hope that Mainz will lose at home against Oberhausen

if this doesn't happen we have to play the play off matches against Cottbus on Thursday and Sunday :-\

well, what should I say about the match...it actually was one for the "golden pineapple" as we are saying her in Germany

Mainz lead 2:0 against Oberhausen after 20mins so our win was worthless

we won 2:1 with Eigler and Mintal to score - Mintal is now top scorer of the league, together with Auer from Aachen and Makiadi from Duisburg, all 3 scored 16 goals

the final ladder looks like this:

1. Freiburg
2. Mainz
3. Nuernberg
4. Aachen
5. Fuerth (as always, the finished 5th in 9 out of 12 seasons)
6. Duisburg
7. Kaiserslautern
8. St. Pauli
9. Oberhausen
10. Ahlen
11. Augsburg
12. 1860 Munich
13. Rostock
14. Koblenz
15. Frankfurt
16. Osnabrueck
17. Ingolstadt
18. Wehen Wiesbaden

Freiburg and Mainz got straigt to Bundesliga 1, Ingolstadt and Wehen Wiesbaden have to go down to Bundesliga 3; Osnabrueck has to play 2 play off matches against the 3rd of Bundesliga 3

we have to play our play off matches against Cottbus on Thursday and Sunday
the tickets for the home match have been sold out within 4 h after yesterdays match

btw. the play off round has been reintroduced this year after a break of 18 years...we are the last team who relegated directly as 16th of Bundesliga 1 (last year) and are now the 1st team who has to play for promotion in 2 play off matches :-\

Play off match #1 today at 6pm (CET)

as said before we have to play Cottbus away first and at home on Sunday

Today is going to be a tough match. we should try to score at least 1 away goal as the UEFA away goals rule apply, so they count more than home goals

the team that is playing is the same as last week, so Pinola and Schaefer should avoid getting a yellow cars as they will be suspended on Sunday then

Not really sure what kind of match this is going to be tonight but I am confident that we get a good result :)
