ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Greatest Little Club on Earth - Mariners doco 2024

Was talking to my dad about this doco the other day, and thought about how I might want to reminisce about the success of those two seasons in the future. I realised I wouldn't really think to load up this doco to experience the emotions once more. I'd bring up replays of the finals on youtube instead.

As has been noted by many, this was a success story for Peil, overall. He can use this for self promotion and to get his foot in the door with bigger clubs (I'm thinking other codes) as a guy who brings success.

Again, I didn't need an extended sequence of him mountain biking, having vaguely relevant calls in his car, or discussing picking up speeding fines because he went to the wrong location for a meeting. That footage at the end of Peil walking away is burned into my mind, as I feel that was most likely recorded specifically for the moment, rather than how it's traditionally done in recontextualising a non-scripted moment.

I wanted to see how Mark Jackson was able to pick up the pieces from such a short turnaround, ingratiate himself with the squad and turn things around from such a poor start to winning it all.

I didn't dislike the whole feature, but I certainly felt it was a missed opportunity and is ultimately mostly forgettable. My expectations were sky high, admittedly, I was hoping for something I could watch in years to come that would cover all the the incredible highs and provide all of the context of the incredible achievement.

I watched the first hour as soon as it was available and haven't got to the rest of it yet.

You guys aren't selling it to me...

You lot are a hard bunch to satisfy. The Peil hate is pretty full on so I guess a lot of sour grapes on here when he spent millions then decided not to continue. I’ve met him a few times and thought he was a pretty honest person and clearly a good businessman and I feel his investment did some good for the club. Perhaps without that investment we don’t get the same results.

I liked the doco, perfect no but I feel it’s impossible to produce something everyone likes. Let’s look at all the comments every season on the kit and merch, some people will never be satisfied. If it’s not the colour it’s something else.

It’s a permanent record of our clubs success over two Fantastic seasons which may never be repeated by the club.

I liked the Pod and Ian talking about the office representation in the doco. That I pay attention to not other comments from people that have never worked there. If you don’t have a valid comment maybe keep it to yourself. If you did work in the office please advise when making your personal attacks on people so you have some cred and not just look like joining the bandwagon sledging everyone that worked at the club over two very successful seasons.

Rant over. Enjoy.

Maybe the wine and train strike has pushed me over the edge.
