ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

NBN news reported (according to Jets forum) that Matty Thompson is in China securing a deal and that he has the blessing of the club.

Would really hurt losing your captain three weeks from the start of the season.

Why China though? I hate the place and all Thommo needs to do is ask Mark "Robert" Bridge abour China and he could tell some great stories.

what was he thinking?

just because you hated the place he should have known better

matty thompson is ten times the player mark bridge is and will do fine in china

I agree with you about the players quality but i would think he would make an impact in the K-League or even J-League as a wing back or wide midfielder.

curious

Yes, but he didn't get the offer from kleague or jleague, he got it from China. He has probably spoke to Griffiths about China, rather than the whiner Bridge who sounds like a proper mums boy.

I think most people dislike China.

I think you are wrong

+1

Shanghai is one of the greatest and most immense cities in the world.  When Beijing isn't covered in smog it does well for itself too.
+1.  have been there the last 2 years (work and holiday) and love it.  if you can forget the smog, it is a great place to see.

Frankly, Bridge should have shut his mouth (publicly) but quietly let it known to Football Professional friends that if they were thinking of an offer to China, to talk to him first.

I doubt he will ever get an offer from a Chinese club again, he really has a committed a significant cultural faux pas against the Chinese people (so I was informed by some Chinese co workers) by speaking his mind so outwardly (and typically Australian, in their eyes).

Bridge was expecting to be treated like a rockstar and didn't like it when he wasn't being treated as such. Welcome to being a journeyman footballer, Mark, get used to the cultural shocks.

I think if Thompson goes over to China with an open mind and a bit of humility when he gets into the team, and shows some maturity, he will do OK.

Like every person who travels to another country and culture for work, there is always the down side of it, some of which in China might be the smog or the food you are offered and it's quality, or the attitude of your employer while you are there.
