Scum lost 1-0 at home and should have copped an absolute flogging but for Ange at the back.

He was immense and if we passed on him, we are truly stupid.

TS was as awful as usual and only Elrich (the thin one) and Thompson played well. On another night, they would have got totally pwnd.

Funniest thing was Petrovski missing a pen for 1-1.

Crowd about 8ish I think

Joel hit with lengthy ban

JOEL Griffiths has been hit with a five-match ban by the Chinese Football Association in the same week he triggered a suspension that rules out an ACL date with Newcastle Jets.

Griffiths was sent off for an elbow on an opponent in a recent league match against Shandong Luneng. He was adamant that he wasn't guilty of any wrongdoing but the Chinese FA disagreed.

"Joel is a fairly professional player, he was not intending to hurt Shandong's player," Beijing's Korean coach Lee Jang-soo told the Global Times.

"That is a big blow for us throughout the entire season," Beijing's chairman Luo Ning added.

Beijing will examine whether to appeal at an emergency club meeting is held.

Meanwhile, Griffiths' booking in Guoan's Asian Champions League clash this week has triggered a ban that rules him out of the club's looming clash with Newcastle Jets.

It removes the problem of a distinctly grey area - whether or not the player is/was allowed to play in the clash against Gary van Egmond's side.

THE conduct of Newcastle Jets supporters is again under scrutiny after a spectator was ejected from EnergyAustralia Stadium on Wednesday night for throwing a bottle onto the pitch during the Asian Champions League match against Nagoya Grampus.

Actually it was Con and the kid has taken the blame

Yet another media beat up. I'd like to know how many egg ball supporters are tossed out on any given home game and whether it attracts the same media cloumn space. I think we all know the answer to that.

I don't think it was worth your time posting that midfielder.

And about time the authorities got some balls and kicked someone out becasue its unacceptable.

Marinersman your right, you dont hear much about all the people getting kicked out, but you do hear a fair bit when people throw things on the field at players & officals

Van Egmond warns players after latest Ljubo bust-up
BY JAMES GARDINER
29/04/2009 4:00:00 AM

NEWCASTLE Jets coach Gary van Egmond has implored his team to stop arguing among themselves after another training ground bust-up involving colourful defender Ljubo Milicevic.

Milicevic and teenage striker Sean Rooney nearly came to blows after a heated exchange during an intraclub trial at Ray Watt Oval yesterday.

``If I was a nutter, I would have clocked him,'' Milicevic told The Herald.

Van Egmond played down the incident as a ``storm in a teacup'' but told his players to stay focused before next week's crucial Asian Champions League game against Beijing Guoan.

``There was a bit of frustration, which is not bad to see sometimes,'' the coach said.

``It shows that people care.

``But we have to try and make sure that our focus is on getting better as a team and on what we are trying to do, not argue between ourselves.

``We have to find a solution if things don't go right. There is no use arguing on the pitch. Against Beijing we can't afford that. We have to stick together.''

Yesterday's confrontation was the latest in a long line of incidents involving 28-year-old Milicevic.

He left Melbourne Victory early last year after a falling-out with captain Kevin Muscat and coach Ernie Merrick.

He signed a one-year deal with the Jets in February but was on the verge of walking out on the club and the A-League after a slanging match at training with van Egmond a month ago.

He also drew flak from teammates after telling them, to "harden the f--- up''.

But last week he had done a backflip and said he was happy to stay in Newcastle.

Despite his volatility on the training pitch, Milicevic has been relatively composed on the field.

Yesterday teammates had to intercept Rooney, who had made a beeline for Milicevic in response to a verbal tirade.

"All I want is the best for the team," Milicevic said.

"It is obvious some boys don't get it, and they are the ones who cop sprays.

"I've been here for three months and there are some kids who don't want to learn. They make excuses after games, but at training they don't work on it."

Yesterday's incident occurred after Rooney had turned over the ball in the opposition half and failed to chase back.

After scrambling to thwart a counter-attack, Milicevic launched into Rooney from the other end of the ground.

The youngster fired back before van Egmond eventually intervened, bringing the game to a premature end.

The pair continued to trade insults before Rooney boiled over and charged towards Milicevic.

Teammates restrained the 20-year-old before the situation escalated out of control.

"When I went off at him, I was not fired up I was trying to prove a point," Milicevic said.

"If I was a nutter, I would have clocked him.

"That was never going to happen.

"I'm not saying I'm perfect. No one is perfect.

"It does not matter if you lose the ball. Everyone loses the ball. It is what you do when you lose the ball.

"The key to winning championships and winning games you can ask any captain in any code is the little things.

"I am more critical of myself than anyone.

"The two or three times I lost the ball today in midfield, did I stand there and watch? No, I bolted back and won the ball back or got in a good position."

Milicevic was indignant about Rooney's reaction.

"Imagine at the Knights training if a young player drops the ball and then walks back to defend. What would Kurt Gidley do?

"Then that young boy has the nerve to talk, not even talk back but swear back.

"Then he has the nerve to try and run at one of the senior members of the team to try and fight him."

Rooney dismissed the incident as a heat-of-the-moment reaction.

"I understand Ljubo has been there and done that," he said.

"The things he says are right, but just the way he goes about it sometimes.

"I have a short temper, and I just lost it."
