Scum in turmoil

Another story about nothing. Palyers have "disagreements" all the time on the training pitch. There's a very good story about a fight between a current and former player of the Mariners at our training ground which never made it into the media.

In fact the more I hear about Ljubo, the more I want a player like him at the Mariners. Would be very good to shake our lot up a bit.

This morning Ljubo 'did his nut' right next to me and was throttling the cafe waiter in Goldberg's in Darby St, Cooks Hill because his breakfast slow arriving.

Kidding. He was quietly sitting playing on his laptop.  ;D

Just when I thought that was an innocent comment I realised it could also mean that Ljubo was sitting on his laptop, playing! Which is more fitting of the bill, if you know what I mean?  ;) ;D

Beijing: We're not playing here!

BEIJING Gouan coach Lee Jang-soo has blasted the condition of the field at EnergyAustralia Stadium and has registered a complaint to the Asian Football Confederation Match Commissioner to have tomorrow night's ACL match postponed or moved.

Beijing and Newcastle are set to play out a crucial match day five fixture in the Asian Champions League on Wednesday night in Newcastle but the condition of the pitch is creating havoc even before a ball has been kicked.

The field was in a sorry state after the Newcastle Knights hosted a torrid NRL match in rainy conditions against Brisbane last weekend and bucketing rain over the past three days in the New South Wales coastal city has aggravated the wear on the surface.

The Beijing coach and officials inspected the ground on Tuesday and complained immediately to the match commissioner about concern over injury to their players.

"We have come here today to confirm the condition of the field and after our confirmation we think that the condition of the field is not so good and is not suitable for such an important match," Jang-soo told the media at a press conference today.

"We have already talked with the match commissioner about our opinion and we know that from the beginning of this year the Asian Football Confederation have taken a lot of energy to stimulate football in Asia and we cannot continue to grow Asian football with these kinds of conditions."

Jang-soo said he had not received a reply from the match commissioner but said his team was ready to play if the game was to proceed.

"As professional players and coaches we prepare ever game to win and during the match every player will give their best performance," he said.

"But I think you can see with your own eyes and I don't think it is something special I have reason to see why this pitch is not suitable to play a game on."

Newcastle coach Gary van Egmond agreed the pitch was not fantastic but brushed off concerns the match would be moved or postponed.

"It is going to be wet and it is going to be bumpy but both teams have to deal with it so let's get it on," he said.

Jang-soo also defended the decision to leave seven of the regular team members back in China for this crucial ACL match.

"First thing I would like to say we have played and intensive campaign in China in the last few weeks," he said.

"Just before we came to Newcastle we played a Chinese Super League match and then flew 21 hours to get here and then we go back straight after the game for an even longer flight because we have to play another Chinese Super League match away from home.

"But even though we have seven players not playing from last weekend's match this is not the second team - they are all part of the Beijing squad and are all equally important, so we will have a very strong team."

Good, someone needs to take the FFA's place and stand up to this shit.

I know I am backing the scum here but we have to put up with shit pitches at a lot of grounds (Terrordome,BT,EAS) and its not f**king good enough.

F*ckers just won 2-1 against Beijing with the last kick of the game by Rooney, leaving them 2nd in their group on 7 points ahead of Ulsan on 6 and Beijing on 4.

And as if our efforts in this competition didn't look pathetic enough......

*shakes head in disgust*

When do we start the "Mariners in turmoil" thread?

Oi, do you two you wanna stop picking on the team??  Gosh, everything is fine..... no wins in 5 months, a disenfranchised support base, laughable "tactics" and players who aren't fit to wear the shirt - these are all normal things.  It will all sort itself out magically.

From FourFourTwo:

"The final whistle blew straight after and sparked wild scenes among Jets fans - who were given Ljubo's entire kit in celebration, forcing the player to return to the dressing room in only his underwear".

Certified. 200%. Nutter.  We need more characters in the game, seriously.

FWIW, their 2 goals came in the 88th and 94th minute's.

The Jets have had a good run in this competition. They have played vastly understrengthed sides. Even tonight Beijing left seven starters at home.
