ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Scum in turmoil

It's obvious to all and sundry that he has some issues but we don't know if those problems are the reason for the bust up.

There's a very long list of players who have had short stints there and couldn't wait to leave. Rather than blaming the player's problem, it's more likely it's because of the way the scum is run that he is leaving. None of us should just assume it's his mental condition that is the reason.

no we shouldn't assume

we assume that con's + GVE's + Ljubo's mental conditions are the reasons

Or.....maybe.....
Con + GVE = Ljubo's mental angst! (It would do my head in having to work for those two!  :headbutt: )

Seriously, though, we have to assume nothing, and wait for the glossy media announcement and the later player interview to get some sort of idea what's happening.

I thought player bust ups at training were kinda par for the course at this level?  ???

TBF, too, there's a hell of a lot of pressure on a player to resume their playing career at this level after a lay off like Ljubo's had, and add to that the foreign teams that you've never played against, crazy referee interpretations, travelling.. it's not an ideal situation and one bound to lend itself to a player venting their spleen at training.

I bet there's been times over the years when Lawrie, Tobin or Fergie had some out and out shouting match with a Mariners player or two when things weren't going right, and all sorts of sulking, moping or aggro behaviour exhibited. At this level they are all very competitive and being told off by a coach or getting annoyed with relentless training drills would dent their pride a fair bit.

Probably the only difference is that it's Ljubo - who has a history of being volatile - and the matter was widely reported?

Fair call, I guess my poorly made point was that there could be a lot more going on to all of this than just his fragile state of mind.

Wow lucky you - until next time huh?

So you get a crazed, ego manic ripping your squad to pieces - you already have GVE to do that

NS, I know it's been asked many times in this thread, but as the thread starter, it really is time to drop the question mark from the title. 51 pages proves it's no longer a question.

From the World Game:

A defiant Ljubo Milicevic has flown to Sydney from Melbourne for a meeting with Newcastle Jets bosses to confirm he is returning to play for the A-League club.

But Milicevic had a warning for teammates upset at training ground rants he will not change his ways.

Rumour and innuendo have surrounded Milicevics Jets future since a training ground bust up with Jets coach Gary Van Egmond last week.

What should have been a routine disagreement with Van Egmond escalated into a full-on argument that saw Milicevic storm out of a training session early and head to Melbourne.

While some reports claimed Milicevic had walked out on the club, The World Game can reveal the former Socceroo had a prearranged break approved by the club.

However, Milicevic remains unhappy with the attitude of some teammates and will meet Jets owner Con Constantine, chief executive John Tsatsimas, and Technical Director Branko Culina in Sydney for clear-the-air talks.

There has been a lot said over the past week on the phone and the powers that be want to have a face-to-face chat so they can understand exactly what went down, Milicevic said of his bust up with Van Egmond.

Apparently, certain players would prefer for me to leave Newcastle because I can be too critical but I wouldnt be so critical if they trained harder and worked on the issues at stake.

Certain members of the squad are not pulling their weight and the team is not going to get better until they start being honest with themselves. Last year, these guys finished last. There is a reason for that.

However, despite his hard line stance, Milicevic said he was looking forward to rejoining the squad and preparing for the teams upcoming Asian Champions League matches.

He acknowledged his level of intensity was not appreciated by all teammates but believed the Jets squad needed to focus on improving its football rather than play politics.

I believe in myself and what I have realised is that those who are not confident and insecure tend to try to bring me down, Milicevic said. What they dont realise is that no one is going to break my spirit.

At a young age I should have stopped playing football and started studying politics. I have had to deal with more politics in my career than actually playing football but I cant wait to go back to training with the boys in preparation for our very important matches coming up in the Asian Champions League.

I want to be the best that I can be. All I have done since I have been at Newcastle is train my arse off. No one has seen me in nightclubs. I have not been drunk once. I am not interested in outside factors. All that matters to me is my football.

I maintain that he is good for the game...

I would even say brilliant for the game. While all other codes have started he provides valuable space in the media. Posotive or negative, doesn't matter.

Would love to know who it was that wasn't pulling their weight. Would love to have seen him sackwhack go toe to toe.
