With the spotlight firmly on the brilliant play of the young guns in the first team it is nice to see that against Adelaide in the NYL 2-0 win it seems Mitchell Duke played particularly well...

I know the cards are stacked against with the way the first team is playing, but I`d love to see Duke get another crack at the A-league...

Agreed. Lets face it, Amini is already moving on so it is quite likely Bernie and Ryan will follow in time so I want more to be coming through. Plus they are such good value to watch :)

Arnie hasn't failed in this regard as yet. SO I'm sure he's paying attention more closely than anyone.
Big wrap on Bernie tonight on Fox. Duke must be itching for the chance to try and prove himself further.

Who is number 8 for mariners? Looks like. Handy player
James Oates the captain. Agreed. he was one I thoght looked good at the first youth league game we saw a year or so ago I think.Tonight we also really liked Duke, Appiah-Kubi, the no 2 Stanojevic, Caceres (no 6) and McDonald (no 15). Had another really enjoyable afternoon this afternoon. Its great to see so much young talent available for the future.
This afternoon we thought we really outplayed Gold coast in the first half but they picked up in the second and we were lucky to win.
Does anyone else have any thoughts?

While I think of it Kwasnik's shots were erratic as usual and he didnt seem fit or fast. My husband disagrees and thinks he played well in the first half. However neither of us think that he will replace Simon satisfactorily.

Gold Coast youth team as difficult to play against as their first team. Great to have some comments about the players - apart from Kwas (who seems to have played a typical Kwas game) - how did the other seniors go? Looking some way ahead it will be interesting to see how the likes of Pellegrino, Musialik and Porter cope with the challenges for first team spots coming from these bright young youth players.

Yeh Kwasnik doesnt look fit but still knows how to play..

Duke runs 100mph hour or not at all, very good technique with the outside of his foot (dribbling and lay off passing) and very eager, he did impress me with his eagerness.

Was Sammy Gallagher playing as left back?? (Number 11 im pretty sure) he is a VERY aggressive and talkative player, I like his style.

Also does anyone know who the GCU Captain was? Number 5, sweeper who was talking the entire game

Pellegrino did very well- he did much better than I expected. McDonald was excellent. I would be happy to see him in the first team if needed. Porter was very reliable in central defence and in fact the whole defence was great. Musialik was also very reliable, energetic and determined.Arnie and Moss were both there this afternoon.

I agree- very talkative and in control- Anderson. we also thought their no 17 was very good (right back) and fast striker (no 13).
Yes Gallagher was our 11 and yes left back. Another one we saw a year or so ago and really liked.
