ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

That said the refusal by TG to do anything about it, is on him.
He may well be under some level of instruction not to rock the boat. The home world cup was a big moment and I can understand why there was reluctance to push major change, then the tillies have had a lot of public support so again play it safe leading towards the olympics. Some changes will be needed for the next WC cycle - just in time for a new coach to inherit all that mess.

It's not been a complete mess under Tony. Bronze medal matches at the Olympics and world cup aren't terrible results (and to be fair if Kerr doesn't bottle the 2022 Asian cup qf against Korea we probably win that tournament).

He is ultra conservative and his insistence on playing the familiar even though past their best is concerning.

He was probably an inoffensive option after the staj mutiny and milicic caretaker era.

Under him we have seen the advancement of players like fowler, Cooney-cross, Torpey. Hunt has developed. The 2 GKs, while solid rather than outstanding, are upgrades on Williams and whyman.

Heyman has done well but at late 30's is just a band aid following Kerr being injured and not a long term solution. Kerr herself is getting on and starting to get injury prone.

Slightly unlucky that some of the good young players picked up injuries - holly McNamara is a definite replacement for Kerr but is another one getting big injuries early in her career.

2 years until the Asian cup gives the new coach a chance to clear out some of the dead wood (Polkinghorne, eve, yallop) bring some of the young players coming through eg Daniela galic.

Thinking about it more I wonder if the team needs to fail to be open to major changes. They dodged the WWC qualification by us hosting so if we dont progress in France maybe it'll hurt enough to accept change.

Can't believe the coach trotted out Van Egmond in the first half. Very lazy. Won't run to support. Tall, but can't head. So negative - if on the ball nearly always passes backwards. Has talent, but rarely uses it to effect. One of the most frustrating players to watch. Such a relief she was dropped for the second half and replaced by a player willing to have a go.

Now we can get back to the proper olympics.

I think this team has run its course. Going to be average for a while. Time for the next generation to be blooded.

Obviously Tony is done but I still think the side has the ability to do well even if they are or are about to have generational change. There’s some good talent that deserves a chance.

It depends how willing the squad is to accept change. Are they operating as a modern high performance squad or are players still trying to have things on their terms? From memory some of the changes Staj wanted to bring in were at the core of how things blew up.

Women's sports have skyrocketed in visibility and presumably professionalism should follow. Do we hold the matildas to the same standards as the boys?
