It doesn't matter what team Sydney put out there they will be fighting for every ball....the loss of Milligan is good news for us thou!

We can certainly build on last weeks win, we have no excuses on Saturday.

It's a funny one, like if we turn up we should win easily but if we don't we might get done by a sneaky 1-0 or something.

Bah, anything could happen really, I just can't wait!

On paper we should absolulty trounce them but as we all know it's what on the field that counts.

Still we should win 3 or 4 nil.

Mark Robertson for sydney?? didn't he play for Perth last year.

I think the history books will show that this will/was the game that was/will be the catalyst in deciding the fate of the Central Coast Mariners season for 07/08.

Whether we win the Prem, or praise the almighty, and win the Prem & 'Precious' (fr/ 'Lord of the Rings', as I like to call it, dunny seat makes it sound  like..er ..shit) I think it will be this game that we will all look back on as being the impetus in driving forward to either of these 2 results.

Likewise a draw, or Omni forbid, a loss to Sydney, we'll still look back and say that was the game that cost us points and let this team or that team move into this position or that position on the table in the remaining rounds of the comp. The words of "If only..against Syd" are ones I and I'm sure a lot of us don't want to be uttering come semi-final time.

I am extremely optimistic for us to win this game, why shouldn't we be. Confidence and believing in oneself comes naturally when your winning. Form is foremost in any sport and ours has been superb. However, as the pundits say "a fighter is only as good as his last fight",  a loss or a draw from this game could be all it takes for a little doubt to creep in and bring the dream undone. I've noticed sometimes when we go 1-0 down in first halves that we tend to drop the head a little and then take sometime to get back into the game and manage a win.

The V1 GF was a good example, yes the boy's still tried to win that game despite being down a goal, but you got the sense that they didn't believe they could win it. I hope we score an early goal against Sydney, which we do  in a lot of our games, and 'ride the wave' all the way from this game to the Double.  :pirashoot:  :pirate:

now Fish needs to drink a beer, in true Steve Austin style!

Nicely said Roddy, I can't help but be paranoid about this one, Milligan being out is VERY nice for us though but I've still got this terrible feeling.

All we need is one so that's what I'm tipping.

Not me, I'm feelin the power Omni! :)

Mercifully since the roar gave us our defensive/midfield wake up/sharpener - which was so dutifully followed by our stellar performance against ADL -  the sensible talk and focus coming out of the camp as heralded by St John's worthy appearance on Fox -  makes me far more confident than usual that we won't easily be caught out any time soon.  So leading in I'm feeling completely fortified by our spectacularly superior defence with the indomitable DV, an engine room at full force and a striker partnership that is the best we have ever known. It's going to be a war and no mistake, but this opp to get a first few fingers (if not a good half a hand!) on the Premiership title, combined with our strongest squad to date and current form has me believing that our Armies confidence and hunger is at an all time high - and morale most often will win the day! So banish the fear...
YELLOW VICTORY IS NEAR!!!

Great post Rowdy, couldn't have said it better myself.

Tomorrow night's game (please, please, please be a sell out) is our very own "pivotal moment" for this season against Sydney FC. If we win, we lock up The Premiership and secure our golden ticket to the AFC Champions League. If heaven forbid we drop a game at home, we lose momentum and come right back to the pack.

Like most, I am confident we will win this - I am thinking 2-0.

John Aloisi is warming to the task and should add to his tally this season and Sasho I think will want to once again rub salt in old wound against his former club.

This is a must-see game for Central Coast Mariner fans, let's hope we sell out the joint or at the very least top our home crowd record against Cossi and his merry men.

We don't lock up the premiership, I'm one of those who won't say such things until it is mathematically certain (or at least would require an amazing GD) but 6 points with 4 games would be very good, I just don't want to get too excited too soon, it's like that superstition about not touching the trophy before you win it.

The Mariners are set to name the same starting XI, that they put out last week. Would like something like:

                Vukovic
Clark  Wilkinson  Vidmar  Heffernan
                Jedinak
Owens  Hutchinson  Pondeljak
        Petrovski  Aloisi

The only things tha may change are, Greg Owens is suffering from appendicitis, however he should be right to play. If he doesn't play, i'd expect Kwasnik to come into the squad and try and carve up Sydney's makeshift defence with his pace.
Also, Hutchinson and Pondeljak would swap positions through out.
I've read reports saying that Booogs is ruled out, but i've also read that he is available. So i'm not sure whether or not O'Grady or Boogaard would be on the bench.

LOL at Sydney.  $10 that Bridges pulls out before game time because of sore knees.  ;)

What's 5-0 to us paying at the TAB??    :pirashoot:

P.S.    Wonder what the Daily Telegraph and Total Football will do when Sydney don't make the finals??  Stop printing football stories and not broadcast out of protest??  Get Uncle Frank to pull some strings so the 4th placed team loses points for whatever reason??

I mean, as funny as this is, it's also beyond shameful - they should be the biggest club in the country, but as it stands they're a laughing stock off the field, and not too far behind on it.  What is it going to take for them to get their act together??

I Think things are looking too good for us, im having trouble trying to take in the fact that everything is looking up for us at the moment heading into a match. im use to us having all the injures heading into a big fixture this is a good change for once. I just hope they dont play the game on paper like sydney did last week against perth.
