Mariners vs Adelaide, Dec 14

I think it showed how impotrtant Hutch has become. He runs the show whether its on the ball or dictating the tempo hes the business for us.
Sasho worked hard as always and was a welcome foil for Aloisi I thought.

As for the Grego being a loner.I watch the boys train every week and I have never seen any division let alone with Grego so I think your barking up the wrong tree

Ahhhh, that's good to hear, thanks for that fish, the post re Grego did unnerve me a little when I read it. Marinersman re Viddy, well said, I'm with you. (Even despite Rowdies hilarious walkathon call)

Also I'd be very interested to hear some thoughts on the shift of momentum when Adelaide got themselves back into the game? I'm not talking about the natural goal morale lift with Agostino's "great" butt lets be frank, (f**k you farina while I'm here :)) absolute fluke header. I'm more concerned by when Vidmar brought Djitte and Ontangyyy...whatever on, and was throwing everyone upfront...their pace showed, space appeared, and yet it seemed at least to me, that despite a terrific first half by the boys that Lawrie would of course not have wanted to mess with, when the tide was shifting, he still certainly didn't jump to re balance or counter, which proved very dangerous IMHO...

Anyhow...
3pts clear!!!
Again!!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!
So bring on your flying circus kosmina, and I'll bring 11 red noses for your clowns!!!

Thought it could have been time for Matty Simon - when we're under the pump he can win our long clearances and get a throw-in, a foul or some result out of them. Would have helped let the pressure valve off a bit.

If Matty did not come on to change the pace the people like Kwasnik who were subbed in the 70 something minute should have done it. The guy use to be a striker for pete sake. He should have pushed foward instead of letting the ball come to him and defend. The moment Tommy came off and i know it was because he isn't fully fit yet but the pace just stopped. This is in no way a SACK KWASNIC CAMPAIGN but truely i like the guy and thing his time will come again its just this was his chance to do something and he didn't.

I think Kwassi has a niggling injury that he's persisting with, to be fair.

He originally had a calf muscle injury and came back way too soon to help the team with numbers vs. Wellington. If it's still persisting, he will be pulling up sore after every run. And full marks for team spirit if that's the case too.

Like a lot of players, he would probably prefer to start and play til he drops. Starting from the bench at the 70th minute mark wouldn't give you much of a chance to settle in, and I am also guessing he got instructions to be more defensive than attacking, if what you say about his style when he came on, is so. Remember, Clarkey - at Right Fullback - had, by that stage, made a lot of runs up the wing, so would have been tiring. Instructions from Lawrie to Kwassi to stick back more than forward, would seem logical.

Thats fair i guess. You would just hope that bringing him on would change the tempo a little. Your right with the defensive thing tho because he brought on o'grady for sash so he was being defensive. Lawrie does not have that ' ok guys were 2-0 up, lets put on Simon and make it 4-0.' He has that win the home games and draw the away games safe mentality which is very frustrating sometimes but it generally saves our arse. Thas why we are the most consistent logical team in the A-League. No show boating just winning. Hey theres a slogan for you.

Not always adventurous, but were clear at the top with a chance to extend the lead. Id *love* to see a Merry Christmas thumping on Saturday with Sasho and Aloisi handing out the pressies and Grinch Kosmina having a rough old time of it

I thought Aurelio was crazy playing a back three against Johnny and Sash. Really played into our hand and our strengths. I guess his plan was to strangle us in midfield but the opposite happened.

I do like him though. He is very, very honest when it comes to how is team is performing. Only he and Lawrie tells it how it is.

One thing I hate is gooses like Farina and Kossie who refuse to offer criticism of their teams on their performances. The fans aren't idiots and shouldn't be treated as such. I'm sure they'd much prefer their coaches to be critical when necessary and be honest in their appraisals.

How was his carve up on Kristian Sarkies, implying he's overrated and needs to step up to the standard that everyone raves/attributes to him

didn't hold back when being interviewed post.

I agree, just can't remember when I've heard a coach in this league come out and be so frank in their criticisim of one of their own players, his facial expression told you more about his feelings then the word's he spoke.
