Just creating this thread for the people that have switched over already and couldnt be bothered using both forums.

This game is a must win in order to keep our lead because I am 90% certain that Queensland will beat Wellington. Petrovski and Hutchinson are returning for this match as well as hopefully Pondeljak and Boogaard. The addition of the 4 of these will mean that we have a side thats miles better this week than last. This also means no excuses

My choice of lineup for this game would be:

------------------Danny

Porter-----Boogaard---Wilkinson----Heffernan

Owens----Jedinak-----Pondeljak----Hutchinson

-----------Petrovski---Aloisi

Bench: Trott, O Grady, Kwasnik, Simon

This round puts the premiership on a knife edge and hopefully we can come away with the 3 as well as QLD getting beaten

My line up would be the same except I can see Lawrie swapping Clark for Stringers, and perhaps ahead of Porter at right back.............I'm sure Vidmar will feature somewhere? Perhaps Boogs on the right? At least McKinna finally has some selection headaches!

Im with DJ as off a night Viddy had hes going to figure somewhere.
Guess it depends on what they play in terms of attack.

in that case, i would go for Wilko on the right and O Grady in the centre because O Grady cant give us enough speed, either that or we need extra cover on the right

Viddie (if he plays) would be able to mark Agostino because he has no pace either. We will need the faster backs to track their quick players.

This is going to be a fascinating encounter tomorrow night.  Not only because our position at the top is in jeopardy, but also because players from both teams are going to be wanting to make a lasting first impression on Verbeek.

I just hope that the Mariners focus on the game at hand.

I wouldn't totally rule him out from playing just yet.

3 are to be omitted and you know Lawrie just loves to play 'ducks & drakes' with who's available, who's not and who eventually 'does' end up making it onto the pitch.

With the loss last weekend and the situation of a must win this weekend, I'd say the 'poultry phenomenon' is in full-effect.  ;)

If you're not named in the Thursday squad you can't play.

I can see the other three coming straight back into the starting line up.

Agree with Gumps and brown for this week ,Id like to see Porter get more game time.
Stringers needs to get some time if hes going to figure in the remainder of the season so Clarkey for mine would be the other omission.

Boy, gonna miss Boogs. 3 weeks is a goodly stretch for a concussion - and an "indefinite concussion" makes it sound like he's still walking in circles around the dressing room...

Regarding Viddy - though I appreciate the sentiment, and it was a fantastic post re "Viddy's walkathon" Rowdy btw - would have laughed my ass off if it wasn't so tragic, and wish I had the game recorded! But...even then, I'll be pretty surprised if Lawrie doesn't start him.

All said, a full force and firing mid field is clearly what's called for...
and that's looking fantastic with hutch and Tommy p back!

CANT WAIT!!!

I'm really looking forward to tonights game it should be a cracker now that we are getting to the business end of the season.......both teams will fancy their chances, if we can create we will score against them I feel but we need a big improvement from our defence also if we are to keep them out!

Come on Wellington and COME ON MARINERS!

I dont see why this game should be a problem for the boys. Back in round 12 we were looking at the same situation, no boogs. We had a weakened backline and clarky did a great!! job that round and last weekend as well. This only difference this week is that we will have an experienced Sash on the field followed by a rested Matty Simon to come on and Score 2 goals. We always seem to perform best after a game we should have won but didnt. We have both our creative midfielders back and some talent up front to finish. Unlike Adelaide are not as fast as the Roar so our defence should have no problems.
My Team
..................danny...........
...wilko.. vidmar/Clarky...Jedi ..heff
owens...tommy....hutch...kwazzzy
.....Sash/Simon........aloisi
Clarky Porter jedi
If Viddie is playing he needs to be in the middle to have to push Wilko out to the right. This has worked before.

3-0 to the mariners
Aloisi 1, Tommy 1, Simon 1.
Cant wait only 9 hours to go. See you all in the Kendal.
