If the following results happen on Wednesday..... USA 0, Algeria 0 and England 2, Slovenia 2 (or similar, i.e. 1-1 and 3-3) then we have the drawing of lots to determine who progresses.

That Germany result is very bad for us. Now instead of a win and a draw, we need two wins. Regardless of what the score was on Monday morning, even had it been the expected 1-0 or so to Germany we'd be in trouble.

Might kick Pim's arse into gear??  Knowing that anything but two wins leaves it to goal difference, on which we're fucked??

Not so. If we win against Ghana, then all teams are on 3 points and if there is a posotive result in the Ghana v Germany game all we need is a draw to get through.

EDIT - Wrong from me! We need to win.

Germany lost 1:0 to Serbia
quite surprising imo

Not surprising the way the ref was handing out cards.

Poldolski was useless too. Should have subbed him out rather than muller.

I thought Muller was much more useless than Podolski.
I was angry with Podolski for missing shots and a penalty, but at least he was having shots. Muller's crosses were dreadful and he also had 3 or 4 chances to shoot from the edge of the box but instead he either gave away a hospital pass or just hesitated and lost the ball.

Marin didn't do much other than run up the sideline and lose the ball when he came on. He is the shortest player in the comp and they send him on against one of the tallest teams.

Cacau is a decent player but wasn't able to find much space during the game.

I'm kinda glad Klose is out, I don't really rate him anyway. Should of started Gomez instead.

Ref definitely ruined the game with all the cards.

2 wins for us and a draw between Germany and Ghana and we top the group. Is that asking too much?

The AFC chose the refs .... none of ours were 'good' enough

Irmatov (Uzbek) seems to be going well.

How about those plucky kiwis hey? They say the World Cup is a shop front window for players to sell themselves. Well, the same must be said for coaches as well... and Herbert's market value must be going through the roof at the moment. What a tremedous job he has done with the cattle at his disposal.

It's not a bad little ad for the A-league either, just quietly.

_____________________________________________________________________

A DOCTOR in South Africa has invented a female condom lined with teeth-like hooks and is handing them out at World Cup venues.
Dr Sonnet Ehlers sold her home and car to develop the female condom known as Rape-aXe in 2005. The condoms will be available after the trial period for about $2 each.

The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon and the jagged rows of hooks which line its inside attach on a mans penis during penetration.

Once attached, only a doctor can remove the Rape-aXe and Dr Ehlers hopes this will allow authorities to easily make arrests.

"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said.

"If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure.

"I consulted engineers, gynecologists and psychologists to help in the design and make sure it was safe."

Critics say the female condom is not a long-term solution and makes women vulnerable to more violence from men trapped by the device.

Victoria Kajja, a fellow for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Uganda, also said the device constantly reminded women of their vulnerability.

"It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma," she said.

"It also does not help with the psychological problems that manifest after assaults."

A report last year by the nation's Medical Research Council found that 28 percent of men surveyed had raped a woman or girl, with one in 20 saying they had raped in the past year.

In most African countries, rape convictions are not common as the DNA tests to provide evidence are unaffordable.

Dr Ehlers plans to distribute 30,000  free devices under supervision during the World Cup period.
