Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

May be an unpopular opinion but I think Kaltak has been a shadow of his former self over the past few seasons.
My even more unpopular opinion is that he's no different to the past few seasons - he's always been terrible. He's just had a much more competent backline and an exceptional GK to cover for him. Now, his flaws are there for all to see.

Most of our goals over the last few seasons come from Kaltak staring at butterflies or having absolutely no idea where the ball is going to go. Even their second goal today, jogging back and completely failing at his task of blocking the passing lane. He's given a few away this season from that. Heck, they almost scored another one when he just stood still and did a half-hearted air swing while his opponent gets to the ball first.

Man, that was dire.

I was always thinking we'd end up at the bottom of the 6th. Now, I'm worried we'll end up at the bottom of the bottom. Concerned this loss may have opened the floodgates.

A lot of shots on goal today, but allmost all of them straight to the GK. Doka is clearly so frustrated with how bad our passing in the top 3rd is that he keeps taking shots from way too far out. Brandtman is fairly consistently finding time and space to shoot, which is great. Now, if we can just get him to shoot well, he'll become a threat. Kuol was still trying until the end, which was nice.

We recruited and started thin on the roster. 6 or so major injuries and we're barely holding on.

Still expect a top six. As I've said afore - these fringe players will get better for the experience, and we'll strengthen as our key injuries recover

Going to be a tough period though. 4 games into the season and arguably in a worse position than last year performance-wise (despite the 2 points)

Nah, as I said when he's not in charge of everything Kaltak is excellent. Make him the only competent defender and leader of the backline and he's out of his depth

I agree, although I think a few of the fringe players especially brandtman and diesel also deserve more game time over the like of kuol Eddy and paull to try and play their way into consistent starters. Those 3 players I named are most definitely not setting the world alight and I don’t think we would lose anything in starting a few different options over them.

I’m going the other way.

First 15 minutes we had our chances and all the run but didn’t convert.

Then the Kaltak handball gave them the goal and confidence to take over the game and his hand was up there for a reason, balance, preperation to swing leg etc. so based on all other games it is away from body but a natural position.

And was the turning point, then when chasing game we had our opportunities again but still can’t punch the ball in to the right spots and as mentioned can’t move the ball quickly enough to use our wide back for counter attacking football.

With our current players we should be playing the exact way Chiefy had Wellington playing last year and realistically like he did today.

But if we take our early chances we win, like in the Monty days we would create dozens but score a few.

But now we just can’t score early until the young lads play against tired legs when it’s too late.

We have no to minimal options in defence and midfield to replace the current players.

What would you do?
Change the shape?
Change the players with the ones we can change?

For me I think we need to get Storm in the defence somewhere. Maybe beside Brian to be a calming voice. In attack I would start Ngor and Kuol.

I think Brandtman could be anything. He has class on the ball and reminds me of Rogic with his touches, but he needs to work harder. (just like Rogic)

IMHO the players that need a start from the bench, but we may not be able to give them are:
Paull
Steele
Edmo

As for shape I would play a 4-1-2-2-1

Dylan
Kuz
Storm
Kaltak
Lucas
Steele
Eames
Alfie
Ngor
Feijao
Kuol

Happy to hear your thoughts
