ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Socceroos thread.

That’s what I liked most.. Storm grinned with a little shake of his head like “F me I’m not catching you” ?
If you're going to get absolutely smoked it might as well be by one of your mates trying to book his spot in the world cup. At that point of the game there weren't many players on the pitch that would have had a shot at stopping him anyway so it's no slight on Storm.

Agree with all that. JC needs to start the season strong and really make his case. Could be an extra bit of motivation for the squad to try to get him over the line.
Agree with you both.

Listening to Arnie, pretty clear he’s not interested in Kuol unless he eats a bucket of protein powder a day and CD will need to get himself a bagful to have any chance. Even then.., I don’t think Arnies interred.

His comments on ‘Australia’ sounded like he’s gone into siege mentality. Not going to abandon any of his loyal followers now.

I dont think he'll be influenced by the media, nor should he be, but I wouldn't write off Kuol just yet. We need a potential game changer and he certainly looks like one. I think Cummings has a harder road to get there ahead of Taggart anf Maclaren. Ultimately though was that second game just a waste of everyone's time? If the door isnt at least a little open why bring those guys in at all?

It is up to both Cummings and Kuol to make it impossible for him to leave them out. Outscoring JMac and giving assists would certainly help Jason.

TBH I don't think GA is discounting Garang - just trying to keep his head on the ground. I've heard Monty say similar things.

Arnie will fail regardless of who he picks at this stage.

The absolute inevitable vitriol will be far less if he gambles on some game breakers like Cummings, Kuol, Deng and McGree however.

If he goes with his favourites, like his out of form son-in-law, and especially starts them, he will be slammed.

Before the NZ games I thought he was a great chance of making it. By half time in the second game I started realising that the games were just to confirm Arnie's selections.

I think what happened in the last 20 minutes is what Arnie was trying to avoid for the series i.e selection headaches. I think he gave time to JC and Garang (I'll add Baccus and Strain in there aswell) just to placate the fans and media.

Arnie has to think about his career after the Socceroos, if the perception gets around that he plays favorites he will not get a look in for another decent job.

I actually think JC is a great chance for making it if only because Guus is there,

he is going to have to come out firing though, if he wants to be there.

My squad prediction after last weekend - not necessarily who I would pick.

Keepers: Mat Ryan, Mitch Langerak, Andrew Redmayne/Danny Vukovic.
Danny to get the nod over Redders if he has a better start to the season.

Centre-backs: Harry Souttar/Bailey Wright, Kye Rowles, Trent Sainsbury, Thomas Deng. I expect Harry to miss out after his injury

Fullbacks: Aziz Behich, Joel King, Nathaniel Atkinson, Fran Karacic

Centre midfielders: Aaron Mooy, Jackson Irvine, Ajdin Hrustic, Tom Rogic, Riley McGree, Cameron Devlin or Denis Genreau

Wingers: Mat Leckie, Awer Mabil, Martin Boyle, Garang Kuol, Marco Tilio

Strikers: Adam Taggart, Jamie Maclaren, Mitch Duke, Jason Cummings

Bolter - Arzani for Tilio if he starts the ALM better

Not bad and probably very close, I shake my head at King being a Socceroo.

I think there will a lot of upsets in Qatar. 28-30 degree temps with 70% humidity will still take it out of a lot of players. I know the players will be in air-conditioning a lot of the time but they won't be 24/7. Players won't be acclimatised because of the short run-in.

In addition Australia usually flog their players in the first 2 weeks of a month long camp to get them fit from their clubs - can't happen this time. With 3 games in 9 games and with up to 5 subs a game I expect most of the 26 to get some game time. That is for all teams.

This will be a very different World Cup!!

It won’t be as hot as people think that time of the year, especially with the majority of games late afternoon and evening
That was not the point. The hotels, training and games will be mostly/fully air conditioned. But the players won't be in air conditioning all the time. 30 degree might not be hot but combine it with 70% humidity and a lot of countries will struggle to adjust. The down time is when the players will be affected. Try telling multimillion players they can't do what they want. We may not have the problem.

As it is we may well have similar conditions before we leave.

There is little acclimatisation time and also little time to work on fitness of the players.

Not sure where you got thirty degrees from. The average daily temperature in Qatar in November is 26 degrees and 24 in December. It will be no hotter than the Brazil World Cup.

Your narrative is completely wrong.
