. oh please, please, pretty please ... geez that guy gives me the shits - and he is a good enough player to not have to carry on like a dick all the time. he just can't help himself

. unfortunately it will also mean another ten years or so of us being incorrectly labelled a rough, nasty little team ... which leads to too many calls going against us on the pitch because of our 'reputation'
As much as Monty is clearly tough as nails he'll be refined enough and a good enough decision maker not to be a cruncher or else wouldn't have lasted as long where he did

the thought of Monty, Anderson & Zwaany as a defensive trio...what a unit! frees up Rose and Bojic to get forward...then look at the players in front of these guys! I really can't wait

Being a Pommie hard nut without 'beautiful' skills, Craig 'Fozzie' Foster will hate him. So that makes it doubly good! Can't wait to see Fozzie frothing at the mouth when Monty dominates Del Piero, Berisha and others!

I do hope he's not a nut case like Tiatto and Muscat though.

How about this,

Bojic--------Anderson------Zwanny---------Rose

---------------------------Monty------------------------

McGlinchey-------Rojic--Caceras--------Bozanic

-------------Sterjovski / Ibini / Duke-----------------

Endless possibilities with that line up, but i think we will stick to the 442 narrow diamond.

Scott,

I HATE playing with only one striker....but....that is a fine looking line up. Be hard to choose between Bernie and Sterj.

His signing totally changes everything.

My starting 11 would be..

Ryan
Pedj. Dutchy. Anderson. Rose
WeeMac Monty. Rojic. Olly
Bernie. Sterjovski

We have got a shit load of talent on the bench as well!

Agree with that line up. I dont know anything about Anderson, is there a reason he's on Dutchy's left?

Also, where has Hearfield been playing in the pre season? He's banged a few away hasn't he? Not a #10 I know but maybe Arnie might start him ahead of Rojic early on in the season (maybe even use McBreen). Could be that Rojic and Bernie together early on dont provide enough muscle. Arnie can be quite conservative like that.

Anderson has been recovering from injury during pre season so Sainsbury will be partnering Dutchy.

Mine too

and i'd also toy with Sterj in Olly's position and Duke as striker...however two greenskins at the front is maybe not a great idea

Hearfield is not a AM in a million years.

I'm tipping Rojic will start at 10. You could play either Macca or Sterj there but why bother.

Hearfield is an excellent utility player and supersub.

i`m more inclined with

----------- Matty----------

Pedj---Sainsbury--Dutchy---Rose

------------Monty----------

Wee-mac--------------------Hutcho

------------Rogic----------

--------Duke------Mile 2----

bench -Passfield
-Ibini
-Anderson
-Olly
-Hearfield

Still a long time before the season kicks off so injuries will determine who makes the starting lineup for a few positions.

Kwas & McBreen will only be seen on rare occasions this season & Pedj will need to be on his game 100% with Anderson & Sainsbury fighting for positions in the back 4.

Don't write off Kwasaldinho...too many valuable goals last year (last minute winner v Heart for example). Expect the unexpected.

i do rate Hutcho and form will determine Hutch v Olly for that left wing week in week out methinks.
before Bojic can be challenged for his spot i want to see the others get forward the way he does...until they prove that i'd stick with Pedj, under Arnie's current system i like to see our wing backs mobile.
agreed on Kwassie, Roy

The end of the 4 subs on the bemnch rule would really help us out. Would be great for us if we could sit 7 on the bench.

have a feeling this has signing of the season all over it. Looking forward to mile vs juninho moments vs ADP.

This is what we needed to complete the squad for me. I keep forgetting we have socceroo sterj in the squad, i dont know how.

It;s easy to forget Sterj because I dont think he's started a pre season game as yet (???). Reasons???

Don't hold too much hope with Sterj, quickest route to disappointment, I am more excited about Duke tbh, Sterj will be great but he is not our saviour

Sterj if he has his head together could be a revelation. If Sterj fires and Duke looks anything like he did on Wednesday Bernie might find himself as an impact player. TBH he was most effective coming on against tiring defences last year.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Monty is like - but I'm most looking forward to Sterj and Duke working together.

Heyup lads, Blade fan coming in peace!

Monty's a great guy, his work ethic is second to none and the passion he shows in the shirt. He is a huge help to the defence and will allow your other CM get more forward...dont ask Monty to shoot though! (that link to his screamer against Tranmere...he was probably passing) His passing also leaves a LOT to be desired but ask him to keep it simple and so long as your other CM always gives him an option he shoudln't be too bad.

Expect plenty of hard tackles but not dirty, to say the role he played for us he didn't get sent off very often at all...although he does occasionally get your heart in your mouth when he comes flying in from out of nowhere and either gets the ball cleanly (and sends the pother player flyng) or misses ball and player. You speek about him looking tough, imagine when we had him as a defensive mid and a defensive trio of Chris Morgan, David Unsworth and Craig Short with Neil Shipperly up front-the opposition would s##t themselves! (google 'em n you'll know what I mean!). A friend of mine met Frank Lampard the summer after we got rlegated (about 5years ago now) and got talking to him, when Frank found out he was a Blade he said "I'm not just saying this because you're a Blade, as one of the easiest games I've ever had was when we played you at Stamford Bridge. But when we played at Bramall Lane that was the toughest game of the season for me, you'd told Nick Montgomery to man mark me and I couldn't shrug him off all game, I couldn't play against him".

Unfortunately Montys last couple of seasons have been plagued by niggling injuries and he's starting to lose his stamina so he can only run & run now, not run & run & run. I hope there behind him and you get a good 2/3+ years out of him.

He's a great bloke and deserves all the luck he get's. A fresh start in Oz should be good for him so he can leave the troubles he's had back here behind him. He goes with 99.9% of our fan's blessing for beuing a loyal servant to the club from championship to premiership and all the way down to league one.

I'll be checking back to see how you and Monty are getting on...and looking out for you on the A-league highlights we get over here with a legendary Aussie footballer as commentator (apparently). Don't know who he is but he looks like the bald chef off Ausstralian Masterchef!?

GOOD LUCK MONTY!
