Picking on the young one's....very professional.

What about Covic's clearances into the hands of the opposing strickers.

Hakansson is 27, hardly young.

Just based on what I've watched with him in Melbourne and some stuff on the Internets from his time overseas.  He's got some serious potential......

You would make a great a-league coach ;)

Still a few rounds to go yet, and Perth may still drop behind them - but I'm hoping not.

Not likely when Perth are hard to beat at home, just got their first point away and still have Sydney and Newcastle on the road to play...

If Perth can string a couple together, they can be a viable force in the HAL. It's stringing them together that is there problem.

By the time the ACL is happening Con will have to buy a new team anyways. Most of the current lot seem to be heading for greener pastures. The new team will probably built around Griffiths the c**t as marquee, whether that is good or bad remains to be seen.

NEWCASTLE Jets' teenage sensation James Holland is on the verge of securing a lucrative five-year contract with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, which could yield the Jets $650,000.

Holland lines up for the struggling A-League champions against the Queensland Roar tomorrow before jetting out to The Netherlands on Monday for a trial and medical.

If, as expected, the deal is finalised, Holland would be the second Jets player to head overseas after Jade North yesterday signed off on a three-year contract with Korean club Incheon United.

And there could be more with Mark Milligan believed to have been offered a loan deal by Chinese Super League runners-up Shanghai Shenhua.

North's final game will be when the Jets host Central Coast Mariners on Boxing Day, ruling him out of the Asian Champions League campaign.

With Holland, and possibly Milligan, also to depart in January, the Jets' ACL hopes could be over before they begin unless they have major success on the recruitment front.

The Jets sold 2006-07 player of the year Nick Carle to Turkish club Genclerbirligi for $650,000 and are likely to receive a similar amount for Holland, who is contracted until the end of next season.

The Jets are also set to reap a six-figure fee for North, who had agreed to join new A-League franchise North Queensland as their marquee player.

Holland joined the Jets from the Australian Institute of Sport midway through last season and went on to play an integral role in their championship drive.

He has gone on to play for the Young Socceroos, Olyroos and Socceroos, making his senior national debut against Singapore in March.

Though disappointed at the prospect of losing Holland, Jets coach Gary van Egmond had a realistic approach.

"It is a great opportunity for him," the coach told The Herald last night.

"You are really happy to see players go overseas. If we were to lose players to rival A-league clubs it would be more of a concern.

"James is now the second person following Jado. There are plenty more with potential to go down the track.

"He will go to Holland and a better football environment than we can give him here. It is an opportunity for him to go to the next level.

"We cannot offer anywhere near the money that James can receive overseas."

Holland will spend five days at Alkmaar and will miss the Jets' round-16 clash against Melbourne at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Friday.

If successful, Holland would join Socceroo midfielder Brett Holman at Alkmaar, known as AZ.

Based in Alkmaar, AZ won the Dutch first division in 2006 and made the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 2005 and are managed by former national coach Louis van Gaal.

Van Egmond said Holland's rise was a product of his dedication.

"He is very dedicated to his profession and is always one of the last ones to leave the training field," van Egmond said.

"He has not been blessed with the most talent of the kids I have seen. But I have not seen too many who have the same determination, mental toughness and attitude that he possesses."

Meanwhile, the Jets have missed out on their priority recruiting target for the ACL, Norwegian international striker Steffen Iversen, but remain on the lookout for two new foreigners.

With their A-League title defence in tatters the Jets are bottom of the table heading into tomorrow's match the focus has switched to Asia, and owner Con Constantine remains ready to spend up big on bringing in two imports, one on a short-term deal to replace recently departed Ecuadorean striker Edmundo Zura as the club's marquee player.

Iversen, 32, had been the main target, but the Rosenborg striker, who remains part of Norway's World Cup squad, damaged his ankle in the last round of the domestic season a fortnight ago and is expected to be sidelined for up to two months, forcing Newcastle to look elsewhere.

Another Norwegian striker, 36-year-old former international Sigi Rushfeldt, now playing for his home-town club Tromso, has emerged as a possible target.

The Jets have focused on the Scandinavian market because those leagues are now in recess and do not resume until March, meaning there is a better chance of getting a player on loan for both the tail end of the A-League season, and the first phase of the ACL campaign.

There is little doubt the pressure is on the Jets to bring in some fresh faces for the ACL campaign, particularly because the break-up of their championship-winning side shows no sign of abating.

Defender Adam Griffiths will also be joining a new club next season, Gold Coast United, and it is not clear whether he will be let go before the ACL campaign [his contract expires on June 30].

The jets are sitting dead last... every day another player seems to leave... their coach is doing the chicken dance... surely it is time now for the question mark in this thread to be removed!

So, Holland Ditches Dutchy for Holland.

The DogBoy put his proverbial 'hand' up for the 07/08 Championship  :redcard:, but won't be hanging around to put his 'hand' back up to accept the 08/09 Wooden Spoon, regardless of chance to showase in ACL.

LOL, yeh I think it's heaps stupid to hang around with us and play in the ACL rather than join the team leading the Eredivisie table by 3 points and have a good chance of making the UEFA champions league.

Wake up, it's a massive opportunity for Jimmy. Could provide him with a platform to really build his career overseas. You are right in the shop window playing in Holland with all the European clubs around, and the dutch league is renowned for developing young players.

Fair point, but one's only 'in the shop window' if one's 'on the pitch'. I think he'd get more game time at an Asian Club if they were to pick him up than say this 'chance' in Clogland.

He' still a fcuking 'train w/ US in the a.m, signw/ YOU in the p.m' Judas.  :vomit:  ;)

Like the little Judas dog will play in the 1st team in the next 3 or 4 years lol - he has no ticker and will get found out over there.

So Parksey, if you bring your boots to your 1st ACL game, you might get a run - everyone else is heading for the exits ASAP.

What price the c**t going next to "take up an offer I couldnt refuse"
