1. ...won't show live coverage of the first Olyroo group game ... so as not to interrupt the network's regular coverage,... despite the game being played the day before the Games' opening ceremony.

2. ... the Olyroo v Serbia game will be interrupted "at some point" to cross to the AOC team reception for the flag bearer announcement....Given this announcement isn't actually a sport, this won't go down well with viewing fans, particularly if the match is at a crucial point.

3. ... with around 15 minutes to go of the crunch match - the coverage is set to switch to swimming.

4. ...Seven's football commentator for the Olympics will be Gordon Bray, known as the voice of Rugby Union for the network.

5. "Seven will be integrating key AFL coverage within the Olympic broadcasts."

1. Crap. Aussies @ Olympics>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Home & Away

2. Crap.

3. Crap, but somewhat expected since everyone seems to love swimming so much as a spectator sport  :vomit:

4. Crap (insulting)

5. At least they're not trying this with the NRL instead

Don't show the match live, have Gordon Bray, otherwise known as the voice of Rugby Union call the match.

The email and the deal with David Hill .......... F... I hate Ch 7, never watch them and suggest all football people do not watch them.

Do we want live FTA coverage of Arnold masterminding 3 resounding floggings??

Maybe we should be grateful that the wider viewing audience will be spared the utter shite he is likely to serve up.

If it has to be on CH 7 I would prefer a highlights package tbh.Showing the whole game with all the interuptions, dodgy commentators etc will only get on everyones goat.

Even though I'm going to be there in person, this is still actively pissing me off.....

I can just see it now - we somehow win the first game, don't get thumped too badly against Argentina, and it's 2-2 with 10 minutes to go against the Ivory Coast, and 7 switches over to some pointless f*cking replay - only to flash some text down the bottom of the screen that we've won 3-2 with a last second goal.  And of course we won't see it until a news bulletin the next day.

_WHY_ wouldn't they just give the games to SBS??  They might be old and bitter, but f*ck me, they'd still treat the games properly......

Anyway, BenW from Sydney sent me this earlier in the day.  http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18385334721

Home End and GGA types are also looking to stage a protest/rock up in Socceroos gear outside Sunrise's studio on Friday morning.  And as of 2 hours ago, Channel 7's sports publicist has given BenW a call - so it seems like we might have gotten their attention.  I'll keep an eye out for updates.

SBS: Our Hands Are Tied

EXCLUSIVE: SBS TV will have extensive coverage of the Olympic football tournament - including Brazil, Italy and Holland games - but are locked out of covering the Olyroos due to Channel Seven's broadcast deal.
An SBS spokesperson told au.fourfourtwo.com today that although Olympic TV schedules can change "...at this stage, Channel Seven have the Olyroos and we have the rest of football."

SBS has a "complementary" broadcast deal for the Olympics next month. This means that they take what Channel Seven aren't broadcasting - which is good news for football fans wanting football-specific coverage of one of the most popular sports at the Olympics.

Some enticing clashes are on the menu, such as New Zealand versus Brazil, Holland against Japan and South Korea versus Italy, a match the Italians will surely want to win to avenge their humiliating loss in the 2002 World Cup.

But it's less good news for Olyroo fans.

Seven's proposed coverage of the Olyroos has raised the ire of many football fans on this website and elsewhere after we reported yesterday that the Olyroos won't receive dedicated coverage due to the network's overall coverage.

The network explained it was difficult to show uninterrupted coverage of every sport and flagged the Australians' crucial first match against Serbia on August 7 would be on a two hour delay and interrupted by a cross to the AOC flag bearing announcement. The duration and timing of this cross the station was unable to clarify.

The Olyroo games will be commentated by Seven's 'Voice of Rugby' Gordon Bray.

*shakes head in disgust*

So when they cut away from the Argentina game to the swimming - THEY WILL BE CUTTING AWAY TO HEATS, BECAUSE THE FINALS ARE ON IN THE MORNING THANKS TO AMERICAN TELEVISION!!!!!

Honestly...... HEATS?!?    We're getting f*cked over for HEATS?!?

Un.  Acc.  Eptable.  On any f*cking level.  This CANNOT be allowed.

P.S.  Re: SBS not being able to show it - yet again, Channel 7 buys the rights to football and f*cks it over.  No-one screws Soccer like Seven.  C*nts.

Was it a threatening call or a pacifying call?

Dunno, it was just asking him to call her back - and he got voicemail when he did.  Didn't get an e-mail from him this afternoon, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Despicable, but doesn't surprise, which just makes it all the bloody poorer.
Kudos to 442, the Green $ Gold Army and any supporter groups taking action.
Lets hope a big enough stink is kicked up to make a difference. I'm hoping the fan based protests create media interest which then draws comment from the A league coaches and our top players denouncing the poor effort being made by 7... and then it may just be enough...

Here's hoping...

&^%$&$^^$*%&(%^(^&(^* bastards...
