Only player I’m knocking at the moment is Kuol. He has had plenty of time and really needs to step up this season. It’s infuriating to see him a foot behind good crosses as that shows he has no instinct or anticipation. Without that you are not a striker. Bench and give Duarte the time to see how he goes as I don’t see Kuol improving beyond what he is now. At least Edmo can create more opportunities like against Adelaide. Kuol also struggles with distribution. Like I said if he left in January I wouldn’t be concerned at all.

Of the other players I’m more than happy to wait and see how they go and that includes Vitor. I just don’t like the comparison to last season as I think it’s off the mark. I believe Jacko will get the best out of his team however that best is going to be lower than we have experienced the last two seasons.

I’m excited to see how Diesel goes now he will get more minutes. Against the Nix will be interesting as they have more speed down the flanks than Perth.

I watched Perth last week and their best attack came from Faisal, Kuz did a great job and kept him quiet. Kuz starting and his performance was the highlight of yesterdays game. Brandtman is going to require a lot of patience and I was a bit frustrated with him and his constant flick ons which rarely came off.
I do not see the criticism that Kuol is getting is anything like the problem we saw in the past where players were getting ridden, unjustly in my opinion, before they had a chance to settle. Vitor copped a bit of it recently but it was not to the extent that Tulio, Benni or Kaltak copped when they first started.
Criticism of a player not performing is perfectly justified and at the moment Kuol is rightly in the gun. Everyone here has had more than a season to watch him and he has had ample chances to perform.
At the moment I think he may be useful off the bench, bringing enthusiasm against tired defences, but for mine has missed too many chances to score, last season as well as this.

Wow. A bit of bad form and the pitchforks come out.

Who are you going to start in his place with our current injuries and squad depth?
Duarte. Give him the time and patience we have afforded Kuol. Then he can be your super sub, pretty sure he came off the bench plenty last season (9 games) and didn’t really do much then either. Yesterday’s stats for Kuol, 57 mins and one shot off target from 8 touches in the opposition box.

i think it hurt aflie the most when tappy got hurt .
he wasn't able to get forward without tappy's cover .
till then aflie had been putting on a clinic .

the rise and rise of ngor .he needs to be given the "shoot when you're at the box card"
he looked the most likely in the last 20 minutes

brandtman looks the most likely at 10 but keeps day dreaming .
maybe reduce his snap gene meds

still not a 100% on pauli .but another shift or 2 like that could ease the anxiety

I agree. As I said earlier I think the captaincy is affecting his play and tried to think of an alternative in the current team. Difficult.
Yeah no obvious starter or leader unfortunately. You don’t want to further burden a young player with it either in this squad. Hopefully he grows into the role.

I think Paull is growing in confidence every game. Makes some good forward runs also some pretty neat footwork at times.

At the start of the season I thought Storm would be the skipper due to his experience.
Maybe too much complaining when to players when they were not on the end of one of his wayward passes over the years or maybe Jacko did not see him as a regular starter.
I can understand why he did not play yesterday when we were playing three at the back, However if we go back to four I think we will need his experience in defence next week.

With Tapp more than likely out Tuesday night and Sunday will be interesting to see what Jacko does with the backline. Can’t help but think three at the back will stay for the time being. We have looked the most comfortable under this set up.

Only tedious if we don’t unleash the wide backs.

We can play like socceroos vs China
Or
We can play like socceroos vs Japan

As mentioned really need Doka wide with space to create chances as Doka and Maragius are our best hopes.
