ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Probably too soon for Balotelli vs time wasting FC

Let's make the forum a football forum. Only political discussion should be what can they do for the club!!
Hear Hear!

Lets also remove content from the following threads unless they relate to doing something ‘for the club’!

eg

You’re listening to what right now What fun, listening to our chants over and over.

Jokes Not a huge amount of scope here, so they should always start with “tell me if you’ve heard this one before”

You’re watching what right now A place for lively discussions on limited replays of our matches.

Etc etc etc. You get the point right?

As I posted in Miscellaneous last month regarding the closing of the Politics thread

“I blocked content from two extreme idiots so that I could read and contribute to the civil exchange of ideas. Differing ideas are important in a democracy and its good to see what others are thinking. A forum like this allows those ideas to be tested. The alternative is insular echo chambers feeding back on themselves where people think that they must have the right assessment as everyone in them agrees. If people here get abusive, we can block their content”.

I understand that Adz got complaints about what was being said, however if anyone has an issue it is a simple matter to block content from those who are uncivilized in their posts. It is even easier to just not open the thread.

I am completely uninterested in women’s football, so I don’t click on the link. I DON’T asked for it to be closed because I don’t like the content.

Go back to /r/Australia and enjoy your leftist echo chamber there.

I don’t want to read about forum members political takes so I stay out of the politics thread. Don’t let the mess leak into here.

I’ll judge people (and be judged) based on their football takes thank you very much.
I agree wholeheartedly. Let a politics thread exist, and avoid it if its not your thing

Bingo.

Closing threads/ subs because you don't like them is for places like Reddit. Which is why the term 'Redditor' has become an insult in and of itself on pretty much every other platform...

I didn't close it because I "don't like it" but because there was so much abuse flying around and over the top insults, I got a heap of complaints, the quickest fix was to shut it down and try get back to it later and address the issue.

The internet has near limitless places to go to discuss politics. Go there to talk politics, go to ccmfans to talk all things ccm and football.
Seems pretty straightforward. I don't come here to buy cars, watch cooking tutorials, like cat photos or argue random political hotflashes, There are endless other places dedicated to all that. I come here to catch up on and share ccm news, hear others' views on games, celebrate and rant. Don't really see the need to go too far beyond that.
Open new threads in the 'other' section by all means, but if threads become too full of vitriol they should be closed here as it just erodes the community when the focus is and should be ccm.

Good point. Nothing stopping people opening a new politics thread in the "other" section 🤣

Let's call that one problem sorted. Cheers @Ironbark

Who gives a f**k what attire a player's brother wears. We've got a player with family that are really proper naughty never mind wearing a hat. Berating a player because his brother wears a bellend hat and he's a god botherer is comical. He scored on debut and on first look appears to be a very good prospect, if he believes he's the tool of a higher power and that helps him bang goals for us then good for him and long may it continue. Save this sort of bollocks for the off season.

Personally I’m here for the cat photos. Which there is a distinct lack of. Time to complain to Adz
