Even second red card.
Sydney player grabs onto defender first, locking him in place hence the reaction.
So shouldn’t the initial foul be called first.
When it goes to the ref looking at the screen it really puts them on the spot and easily miss all the factors.

And on the second one not sure what footage they were looking at but it was long distance and blurry as feck.

It was definitely close. I’d imagine they’ve decided neck is borderline while face is not.

Contact on the defender doesn’t allow the defender to do what he did. Might constitute its own booking but it doesn’t excuse it. The footage showed the arm come up and there appeared to be a bit of force. It’s not even a question of intent as that doesn’t matter.

The Methcows thoroughly deserved that win after the dudding they received this evening and hopefully they will use that performance to turn the manic over next weekend and hand us the premiers plate. 💛💙

Are you suggesting Gomes pulled it up in to his jaw or something? There’s only one way it gets up there and that’s the defender putting it up there. Would you be taking this line if it was one of our boys on the receiving end? Sounds more like bias over logic.

I haven't seen the incident but the first box the VAR needs to tick before it gets involved is - was there a clear and obvious error?

It was Lara Lee, not the first time she has made a mess of VAR. To be honest sometimes I’d like to see the Ref watch the footage and decide they are happy with their initial decision and not always upgrade. Seems it’s a given they upgrade.

In the first three minutes King pulled Raphael to the ground and accidentally stepped on his shoulder and not even a yellow. The bias in SFC’s favour was the only clear and obvious situation all night. It’s great they couldn’t win and hope they don’t get a home elimination final.

That’s VAR job. To ruin games for little incidents that nobody even knows happened. What’s wrong with play on and if you care then do a ban post match. It’s getting ridiculous.

The first red is horrendous and ruining the game.

The second is probably red but no one cares if it’s play on.

The picture showed everything that matters. You keep talking about who initiated it, that doesn’t matter you can’t put your forearm to someone’s face.

VAR got involved because it’s very difficult for the ref to see in real time. It did exactly what it should do. The first red on the other hand really didn’t need their involvement and felt like they did it to be consistent with previous shit calls which isn’t what we want.
