A NRL bad boy will be interviewed by police detectives over an alleged assault of a woman today.

Roosters hooker Jake Friend will be interviewed by police over his knowledge of an alleged nightclub assault on the woman only hours after playing in Sydney Roosters' breakthrough 19-12 win over Cronulla Sharks last night.

The 19-year-old, from Randwick was drinking at a nightclub at The Rocks when the incident occured about 3am today.

An ambulance spokesman said a 31-year-old Queensland woman was treated at the scene after being punched in the face.

However, while the woman was interviewed by police she refused to give a statement.

Police today confirmed Friend was present when the alleged incident occured but said it was still unclear who threw the alleged punches as Friend was with a group of Roosters footballers.

Police today are interviewing several of the people involved, inclduing Friend, who they describe as "assisting police with investigations".

THE Cronulla Sharks today sacked halfback Brett Seymour following a third alcohol-related incident.

Seymour, 24, is the third Cronulla player in seven months to be axed following Greg Bird for assault and Remi Maitua failing a drugs test.

The chances of Seymour finding another club in the NRL seem remote at best with chief boss David Gallop hesitant at re-registering him in the short term.

"Our current view is that Brett (Seymour) would not be accepted for registration for some time," Gallop said.

In 2006 Seymour was sacked by Brisbane after a series of alcohol-related incidents.

In announcing the decision, Sharks chief executive Richard Fisk said the club had considered all aspects and ramifications for the game, Seymour, and the club.

A statement released by the ARU this evening said: "The employment contract of Lote Tuqiri has been terminated effective today.

"ARU has treated this issue as a standard employment matter. The ARU will not make any further comment on the matter as it may be the subject of legal proceedings."

One of Australia's highest paid rugby players, Tuqiri was contracted to the ARU until 2012.

The ARU had been conducting an investigation into a possible breach of the players' code of conduct, but the circumstances of Tuqiri's sacking remained unclear tonight.

You are right goingtoadisco, they picked other players over him that had less of a chance of conversion, but a higher change of being able to knock a player out with a shoulder charge.

Didn't matter anyway that he wasn't picked, it meant that he wasn't injured or tired for his teams games.

Hazem is a legend and a gentleman. Loyal to one team thoughout his career (which is very rare these days in all sports) and was overlooked due to stature with regards to rep honours. Switched from 'soccer' to league and never looked back once the change was made. His contribution and dedication to the club will be up there with other legends such as Steve Mortimer and Terry Lamb. It's gonna be hard to fill his boots with regards to conversions.
