ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Bird jailed over glassing incident

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/06/22/2605005.htm?section=justin

Former NRL star Greg Bird has been jailed for at least eight months for glassing his girlfriend in the face during a drunken argument.

In April, Greg Bird was convicted of reckless wounding and lying to police after glassing his girlfriend Katie Milligan in their Sydney unit.

His lawyers had argued that Ms Milligan had made no formal complaint and that he was sorry for blaming his flatmate for the attack.

In giving him a non-parole sentence of eight months in jail, a $5,000 fine and a good behaviour bond, a local court magistrate said the offence of glassing in a domestic setting is more serious than in licensed premises.

He said the offence was despicable and un-Australian

It's the lead story, hardly covered up.

I was sarcastically musing on what they would do in light of recent events and their tendency to stick up for the NRL ahead of anything else...... lighten up perhaps??

spend a bit less time engaging in paranoid rants and i might spot the difference between sarcasm and hysteria.

If you stop over-analysing every single post ever made from a standpoint of cold hard logic and just let go once in a while, sure.

In light of the overflow of insecurity and paranoia gushing out the doorways of football forums this last week, no, it was far from obvious.

From NSW police force media release:

Police eject 40 from State of Origin but praise general crowd behaviour
Thursday, 25 Jun 2009 09:58am

***Editors note: Footage of the operation will be distributed through Ten News. Stills will be available through the NSW Police Media Unit on (02) 8263 6100***

Police ejected 40 people from the State of Origin match overnight as part of Operation Forge.

Of those escorted from the stadium, 12 were issued with infringement notices for offences including offensive conduct, and pitch invasion. Six banning notices were issued to individuals, who will be excluded from the venue for 12 months.

Police are also investigating an assault outside the stadium during which a man allegedly knocked another man unconscious. A 24-year-old man was treated at the scene by ambulance officers before being taken to Concord Hospital for observation. Investigations are continuing.

While the game was in progress, an intoxicated male attended the Olympic Park Railway Station. On being approached by RailCorp Transit Officers, he allegedly assaulted them using his belt before being arrested. Investigations are continuing.

At 10.50pm a 31-year-old intoxicated man was encountered and dealt with by Police Commuter Crime Unit crews tasked to the Redfern Railway Station. After he left, police went to check on his welfare and found him in need of assistance. He was eventually taken to Redfern Police Station and detained as an intoxicated person.

In other incidents, a 27-year-old man from St Andrews was allegedly spotted by Lidcombe Railway Station staff punching a window inside a train carriage around 11.15pm. Police were informed and the man was detained. He will be issued with a Railway Infringement Notice for Damaging Property ($400) and RailCorp will seek damages for the cracked window.

Around 11.45pm, RailCorp Transit officers detained a 21-year-old man allegedly seen burning a train carriage seat. Police were alerted and he will be issued with a Railway Infringement Notice for Damaging Property ($400) while RailCorp pursues damages.

The operation began at 5pm and continued until midnight and involved 190 police and transit officers. Police from Commuter Crime Units from Central, South West and North West Metropolitan combined with officers from the Flemington, Campsie, Campbelltown and Parramatta Local Area Commands and specialist units such as the Dog Squad and Mounted Police.

Police patrolled around 200 trains and 100 platforms from the city to various transport hubs during the operation.

Officers estimate around 37,000 people travelled to the Origin match by train.

Operation commander, Assistant Commissioner Frank Mennilli, has praised the well-behaved crowd for heeding the safety message issued by police.

Sydney has a proven track record of hosting major events like the State of Origin in a generally mature and safe manner and it is pleasing to see the overwhelming majority of fans enjoyed their night without incident, Assistant Commissioner Mennilli said.
