thought the game at Budgie was a great idea today, perhaps could have been promoted a bit better to achieve a bigger crowd.
Apart from Blue Tongue the best field on the coast.

probably better surface than blue tongue thats for sure

General playing surface, maybe, I havent seen it for a few weeks so wont comment too much.

Goalmouth at the car park end looked awful

boogaard goal lol

Header from Trifiro free kick so not at all a laughable situation.

Remember guy's...only reason Budgie got this game was because the Mariners asked us.

Pluim Park was nominated to be the field Mariners Youth League games are/were to be played at. Budgie only got this due to the Canteen facilities being closed down by council (don't quote me on this, could be wrong). To my knowledge PP's playing surface is looking great.

Budgewoi's (Frank Millington Field) summer activities usally consist on 7-a-side once a week, however since April 2008 they have played host to both the Mariners senior squad (20 odd players along with the youth team squad and their youth train-on squad.

About a month ago BT management told the Mariners that they are not allowed at the staduim until further notice. THIS IS A DISGRACE. There are no excuses for the playing surface to be the way it is. Teams playing us at home are no more disadvantaged for playing away than we are for playing at home. Not even allowed on the day before the game for set moves.

Activity of any kind will slowly wear down any pitch. PP was over used in 08 and has had to recover. With the Mariners training on BUD1 four times a week, for the last month, off course the goal mouths are going to look a bit ordinary. That said, I know that it was as good as we could of got it with the Budget (what Budget) we have.

Don't go down the track of comparing PP to Budgie....we are on the same side! the staduim unfortunatley is not holding up to there agreement due to the sub standards of the pitch.

Would hate to see our Youth team be forced to play out of Sydney like the womens team!  :)

I have to wonder what the terms of the agreement between BT management and CCM are that the pitch can get the way it is, and there NOT be a breach of contract involved. Surely there would have been some sort of standard nominated and agreed to?

The Newcastle Jets Youth Team has been defeated by the Central Coast Youth Team 2-1 this evening in sweltering conditions at Adamstown Oval.

The opening half was all the home team, however, with playmaker Jesse Pinto having a fine opportunity to open the scoring in just the 11th minute. Pinto was played clean through on goal after a breakaway move initiated by striker Brodie Mooy. Just as it seemed that Pinto would loft the ball over the onrushing Andrew Redmayne, the Mariners custodian pulled off a brilliant save to keep the scores level.

Ten minutes later and Mooy himself would hit a shot that would have Redmayne scrambling, when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and hit a curling effort toward goal. The strike, however, went agonisingly wide despite having the keeper beaten.

The dynamic James Virgili then made the breakthrough on 25 minutes when he brought down a delightful Pinto cross only ten yards out from goal. The young winger then composed himself with a touch on the ball before calmly finishing with aplomb, low and into the bottom corner of the net.

Jets goalkeeper Ben McNamara was left largely untroubled for much of the first half, but pulled off two top quality saves from Daniel Taylor strikes in the dying moments of the period.

The Mariners came to life in the second stanza though and leveled matters in the first ten minutes of the half through Nigel Boogaard who bobbled home a goalmouth scramble amid a throng of bodies.

Less than ten minutes later and the visitors took a lead that they would hold for the remainder of the match when Hyundai A-League player Matt Osman volleyed home a pinpoint first-time Andrew Clark cross.

Good Result by the Youth League.

Its been promising that they have been getting a few handy results this year.

Boogs and Osman scored. If it wasnt for the senior players this year, they would have struggled to get a point IMHO

Good to see the mariners have developed and moved up the table. Sounds like Newcastle have fallen apart in all parts of their football club.

Pedj looks to be paying the price for his recent form.

Quite how he was singled out amongst the dross we have served up recently is a bit of a mystery IMHO

I'll be going, try and take some pictures and give a bit of a report back - assuming it's still on.

Very unlikely. We had our complacent game v.s. Melbourne a few weeks ago.

Am going to try and make it up for this, but I'm expecting a two goal margin or more.
