ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

It really undermines the boutique stadiums for football argument though. Everyone wants appropriately sized stadia but then when you get it - nah you cant have your GF there.
Size is only 1 of the considerations.

It's not a good stadium - it's outdated, the narrow walkways make it difficult to access toilets and outlets and the entry gates/process are ineffective in even a moderate crowd.

No arguments there. Adelaide were forced to move their GF vs WSW as well. It's just more obvious an issue for us because it's not just across town.

Not really. CCS is a crumbling 25yo NRL stadium with no decent corporate facilities, no roof.
It's an idyllic location but far from an idyllic stadium
If we had all that and still a 20k limit do you think they let us host? Against City that would have left 5-6k tickets on the table. Never mind if it was a better supported and/or more local club.

Mike's expansion of the stadium would have I think was designed to provide better corporate facilities and kitchen and a roof over the Western side, as well as provided more capacity and providing shade relief for the Eastern stand. It would have done nothing about roofs for the northern or eastern concourses. It also didn't address the narrow walkways and entries.

Some of these issues could be addressed - but a major revamp is needed and it is hard to see that ever being done. The only way it could be done if is the current lease agreement changes and RP's investors/benefactors are named Denny and Singleton. They are the only ones with deep enough pockets and a reason to want a bigger stadium to go along with their CBD investments.

Australia Cup final?.
This annoys me more than the GF. I can understand and accept why we don't host the GF. But since we can't host the GF, it should have been an absolute no-brainer to award us the FA cup final when we played MV. The FA always selects the venue and they had a cast iron reason to award it to us, but for one year only they decided to have a "draw"

Usually they draw balls out of a pot (like they do in all the other rounds) but that time they decided to draw envelopes out of the pot, not balls.

Yes, they broadcast the drawn in YouTube to demonstrate it was all fair and above board and then used a method that was so easy to rig.

At best it was complete amateurism. But yes I am inclined to believe that the outcome was predetermined. Iirc they only agreed to a draw after Shaun lobbied
