ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

On the 10 Football YouTube page, the Round Ball rules show mentioned that the Mariners will have some investment coming soon. Monty to stay, but a new Chairman..
I have just been on the club's Wikipedia page and came on here to report what I assumed was just a bit of cantankerous shithousery, but seeing this post, maybe not. The page has been edited (on April 13th) to show Mike C as the chairman and minority owner and Richard Peil has been added as the majority owner.

Peil is the owner of Anytime Fitness and is a worth a bob or two, so if it is true then on the face of it then potentially good news. However.......in December last year, Peil was announced as the "CEO" of a bid team set up by former socceroo Andy Bernal for a Canberra ALM team, with Mariners sponsors Mate reportedly financial backers of the bid.

So assuming there is any truth to Peil buying in (still a big "if" given the source, even when tied in with the 10 Football post), it would depend on whether he was buying on his own behalf (he lives in Sydney, would make sense if he wants to get involved in the AL) or whether it was as part of his Canberra bid with a view to shifting the license.

Wouldn`t it make sense for the ALM to now add another 2 teams and expand the league further?
Both Western and Macarthur have both been successful in joining the league so far.
Canberra would be an obvious choice.
It has the population, the stadium and the financial means and is a regional centre for NSW country.
They could buy the licence and be up and running next season
The other additional side could be given 2 seasons to get going...

The AL does want to expand so it would make sense to start a new franchise in Canberra rather than relocate an existing team. But who knows with the AL.

Debatable, results might be there but they've both got hardly any fans and no stadium.

Macarthur have a stadium and their attendances are marginally below ours but it`s still early days for them.
Their on-field performances have been pretty good too.
Western are sitting 2nd and have put in some solid performances.
Their lack of a permanent stadium reflect directly on their ability to attract decent crowd figures but in saying that I believe that plans are underway.

That would make A LOT more sense than allowing our license to be sold and relocated. APL would get a substantial fee for a new franchise vs maybe a cut of MC's sale to allow the move. Not to mention a move alienates one set of existing fans while hoping they bring in more on the other side. It just doesnt seem like a logical move, even a moron would know they can't take our club and expect the fans to still follow them.

One of two bids. Maybe the other Canberra bid has been given the nod.

According to Linkedin, Peil is based in Lane Cove, and MATE HQ is at Wetherill Park. So if they wanted to get involved in an AL club, it doesn't make sense that they would throw their lot in with a Canberra bid when there is a club for sale just up the road - and one that MATE are actively engaged with. It might be throwing idle speculation on top of what is still just a rumour, but I wonder if they did try and buy us, and MC was messing them about so they threw their lot in with the Canberra bid - at which point MC came back to the table.

Successful!!! You made me choke on that popcorn!!! Hehe. Let's have Sydney 7 v Melbourne 5. Hey, if all the teams were from Sydney and Melbourne we would not have to fudge results!!!! Western should be on notice to have licence revoked! Down the road from me the Cows players introduce themselves to the fans at their home games to speed up the process.

I watched to the 10 football YouTube segment. They keep saying how great it’s going to be for the fans and mentioned our stadium a couple of times for how great it is. I saw no indication at all they are looking to move from Gosford. Surely not. As if our terrigal boys want to hang out in Canberra ?Fingers crossed.

and we're doing quite well from that too.
Imagine if we
a) weren't repeatedly rorted by refs this season
b) didn't let in all those last minute howlers
c) didn't have that shocking post covid run

Even if one of the above didn't happen - we'd be so much further up the ladder.

Pretty dang good for near half our minutes coming from club trained talent
