Great pod guys and thanks for helping to make yet another disappointing season more bearable than it otherwise would have been. Look forward to hearing your interview with Mark Brogan and seeing whether the Trust can make a difference for long-suffering Mariners fans
Completely agree, guys, your pod is always a great listen and I really appreciate your efforts!

Crowne Plaza, Magenta Shores, Kooindah Waters could all host teams with training grounds at the Stadium and at Tuggerah.

If the council are serious about wanting games here then the first thing they should they should do is apply for State or Federal grants for the estimated $15m (their figures) needed to connect Mooramba Ave to Wyong Drive. They have stopped further development until there is another entrance at Tuggerah, having delayed the decision on Ibis Rd (which would have cost them nothing) for years. Then they ended up putting in the Regional Sports Park that brings more traffic meaning a second road is needed not only for CCMFC but for the Regional Sports Park and Tuggerah Station.

The upgrade required at the stadium, (probably redevelopment of the Northern area to include a roof and a professional kitchen) would be a lot less than is needed at York Park or Hindmarsh (20,000 seat minimum - bid book concedes that with temp seating it can only get to 18,500 and not meet disability access and seating standards ). Upgrades for Tuggerah would include upgrading the training ground (with a small stand on the Western side) and the start of the main stadium with 5,000-6000 stand along one side.

The 2019 WWC in France brought in around $463 million to the French GDP.

So we have been stopped for years because of the lack of an alternate access because we will bring too much traffic to Byrant Drive. They then put in the Regional Sports Park and now announce a second stage - still with no real alternate access.

Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex, Tuggerah, will soon be expanded to include a multi-use indoor sport, recreation and event facility, bringing much-needed jobs and investment to the region.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Adam Crouch, said Central Coast Council would receive $11M in NSW Government COVID-19 stimulus funding to grow the 18ha Complex.
“Nine outdoor multi-use fields, parking and amenities were constructed in Stage 1.
“They have been operational for the past 18 months, and this COVID-19 stimulus funding will allow Stage 2 to begin,” Crouch said.
Stage 2 includes a six-court multi-purpose indoor facility for sports like basketball, netball and futsal, as well as change rooms, amenities, storage, a canteen and catering space.
Crouch said the detailed design work has already been completed and this project is shovel ready, with 150 jobs to be created during construction.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, John Barilaro, said the indoor complex will help increase visitations and trade, providing positive economic flow-on effects for local businesses and suppliers, with more people travelling to the Central Coast and spending money in local stores, restaurants and cafes.
“The facility is ideally located close to the northern railway line and M1 motorway, and this combination of easy train and car access will result in a highly connected regional sporting destination, a valuable asset for NSW and the region.
“The upgrade will help the Central Coast Regional and Sporting Recreation Complex be a destination of choice for major sporting events, and I congratulate Central Coast Council on securing this funding,” Barilaro said.
Member of the Legislative Council, Taylor Martin, said the provision of six indoor courts means netball and basketball players won’t have to travel long distances to Newcastle to play in already overcrowded facilities, and locals will be able to participate in more physical activity.
“When complete, this Complex will be the only facility on the Central Coast capable of hosting regional and state-level events for multiple sports,” Martin said.
Central Coast Council has welcomed the funding, with Acting Director Environment and Planning, Andrew Roach, saying the Stage 2 works will bring the Complex a step closer to realising its full potential.
“Since opening in 2019, the current multi-use outdoor sporting and recreational facility has already attracted over 81,000 visitors to the region, injecting over $10M in our local economy,” Roach added.
Mayor Lisa Matthews said “I commend Council staff on their ongoing efforts to seek funding for the second stage of works and thank the State Government for getting on board with this exciting second stage.
“I look forward to more good news on this project.”
The $11M funding towards stage two works is provided by the NSW Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Here it is - it's a special edition pod this week, as Pete, Jimmy, and Moz host the founder of the Central Coast Mariners Supporters Trust, Mark Brogan, to gain some further insight into the proposed community ownership model for the Mariners - an absolute must listen.

Good to hear the latest news on where this is at. If we follow the GB Packers model, do we need a better nickname for the supporters? I mean cheeseheads is pretty iconically Green Bay.

The cheapest solution is for council to open the other round-a-bout at Bryant Drive and to modify the treatment pond to suit...
The only other way is to upgrade the existing roads and to use the round- a- bout before the river. This may upset some of the residents due to increased traffic flow but hey, that`s progress...

Enjoyed hearing your dulcet tones again guys. Sadly we got no real news different from what we have already heard on this forum. Hopefully things come together in the new future with the squad and independence. Then we only have to wait on next media deal and an ownership change
