ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Any new signings to replace Harold and Kim? Also, have we been able to cut loose any of the very expensive dead wood clogging up our cap?

Good to hear you guys again.

On the WWC we are not down as a venue or as a training ground.

There are 13 stadiums in the bid book, 8 in Australia. There only needs to be 8. I can see York Park being dropped (Launceston) as well as Hindmarsh and a NZ venue. That would leave 10.

If they get dropped they may play more in Sydney and Newcastle and we could be used as a training venue or even as a match venue if there are more teams in the eastern hub as a result of dropping the above stadiums .

However, the Council are doing us no favours with FIFA. Leagues Club Field being turned into a tidal pool and a proposed carpark between the western grandstand and the railway line give no overflow area that needs to be allowed for (though the foreshore could be argued).

Great podcast guys, sad to hear that Glassock, Olsen and Major can't sign but hopefully Stajcic gets a good look at them for next season. Excited to see us back in action on Saturday from down here in Melbourne, hopefully we can snag a point or three.

It cant be the Coast - no hotel accomodation for a visiting teams

Crowne Plaza, Magenta Shores, Kooindah Waters could all host teams with training grounds at the Stadium and at Tuggerah.

If the council are serious about wanting games here then the first thing they should they should do is apply for State or Federal grants for the estimated $15m (their figures) needed to connect Mooramba Ave to Wyong Drive. They have stopped further development until there is another entrance at Tuggerah, having delayed the decision on Ibis Rd (which would have cost them nothing) for years. Then they ended up putting in the Regional Sports Park that brings more traffic meaning a second road is needed not only for CCMFC but for the Regional Sports Park and Tuggerah Station.

The upgrade required at the stadium, (probably redevelopment of the Northern area to include a roof and a professional kitchen) would be a lot less than is needed at York Park or Hindmarsh (20,000 seat minimum - bid book concedes that with temp seating it can only get to 18,500 and not meet disability access and seating standards ). Upgrades for Tuggerah would include upgrading the training ground (with a small stand on the Western side) and the start of the main stadium with 5,000-6000 stand along one side.

The 2019 WWC in France brought in around $463 million to the French GDP.

So Michael Neill is the only one that could be signed of those training with us at this stage. I also wouldn't mind seeing Matt Hatch tried as a LW (even as a scholarship player) that tracks back to help the LB. He certainly has the pace and seems to have a decent cross.

Couldn't find it mentioned elsewhere, Regarding Micky Neill, he's been signed by the Jets.
So of the four that were training on, we've not been able to sign any.

I think the appropriate answer to that is "commercial in confidence". Why burn them if you plan to go back again.
I think the deal has been dead since day 1 and it's useful as an excuse for MC taking his bat and ball and going home.

You're right. It did cross my mind to write to the council this morning.
But I could probably tell you what the reply would be.

Dear Pirate Pete

PS. you paid your rates a day late, don't let it happen again.

and if he can't say anything that's understandable, but the club had finally actually started to make progress with the stadium negotiations after years of council not even entertaining it. Where it went wrong is a valid and important question.

if you get Mielekamp in, are you able to see if he can disclose anything about how and why the stadium management negotiations collapsed?
We did not meet a threshold of "uniqueness" for the proposal to be presented to the councillors. The councillors did not get a chance to formally review the proposal although I have sent them all a copy today.
