ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Who is our first choice mid partner to Maxy, is it an uninjured Steele or Tapp?

Do we not have a goalkeeper coach because it's already been negotiated that Danny goes straight into that role at seasons end?

How do we feel about the Cahn appointment at roar? Realistically are there players we might lose to Brisbane now?

Who is now our first choice penalty taker once Tulio is gone?

I understand our position as a selling club, but are we getting the balance right, selling arguably our best player mid season in an already depleted part of the field is worrying.

Do we need to play hardball a bit more on the rumoured fees we have received and when people leave given that our recent departures were all under contract ?

Do you reckon we make finals without Tulio? Do we have a run at back to back titles if we do?

Do we need to make some jan moves to cut some chaff and bring in some wheat? Especially to replace Tulio.

Do you think the club is in any more a precarious position as it has been? Peil loves an email telling members how tough the club is doing.

Camp 1: the club is skint, we are selling our best players to pay off debt and we have no money to sign anybody. More departures in Jan.. we are doomed!

Camp 2: times are great and everybody who says otherwise are overreacting, pessimistic killjoys. Everything is FINE!

Boys, please. As our well respected voices of wisdom, intelligence and intel.. where do we actually sit on the juggernaut?

Which player leaves next?
Sold or punted

Camp 2 but we aren't doomed until the pipeline dries up

My thoughts FWIW:

The club is walking a financial tightrope which means we have no option to be shrewd with our assets, including our players. We also want to do the right thing by the players. For Túlio, it’s a massive opportunity to help his family. Let’s assume Faz goes, it’s a massive opportunity for him. With the powers that run the league trying to skim clubs to prop up a B-league there is a big hit on clubs like ours and it’s the owner who has to pay it out of his own pocket. We are by necessity a selling club. I understand despite the press conference we are looking at other players in this window. Maybe we’ll find a gem.

Despite what some think we do have a hard working manager who has built a tight knit squad and has brought us back into competitive contention.

So in summary I think it’s a mixture of 1 & 2 ?

I just wish we had transparency, all those transfers and we have nothing to show for it.

We need to be reserving a portion of these player transfers for either the wage budget or new transfer fees.
We have a functioning team not bleeding money to show for it?

The concept of a selling club is to make money off sales to operate the team - buy low, sell high, repeat.

I suspect you are spot on. Happy to join you in the middle!

If you're a selling club shouldn't you be good at selling?

I.e big fees not peanuts as has been suggested.

Does talking about how skint you are result in being taken advantage of because they know you're desperate?
As any FM player knows, players usually insert a minimum fee release clause into their contract.
If that fee is offered, deal done regardless of what the club wants

Do we know who is doing the scouting for the club at the moment? My understanding is that Ken did a bunch of academy stuff in the past and Sergio's contacts were invaluable under Monty. Considering it's such a vital part of our model, you'd hope there are sufficient resources for it.
