ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Good debate this.

I suppose all of us debating this are quite pathetic really. You know when your best and worst feelings ever are all related to what 11 grown men do with a football in the space of 90 mins.

I plead guilty.

:)

Wouldn't have it any other way.

Seriously, outside of the birth of a child and/or your wedding day (for you older and married types on here), can you name something that tops the feelings football gives you??

Yes, a whole litany of activities that provide both short term and long term satisfaction in higher quantities.

Really??   Mind if I ask what??

Have you ever made love to or been loved by and in love with a woman? Have you ever brought smiles to the faces or ameliorated the situation of children thrust into this world and by merely existing in their circumstances are condemned to a life of abject hardship? Have you ever felt that although you can't save the world, at least what you are doing is inching the world into a better direction? Have you ever played Zelda: Ocarina of Time on N64?

Again, some have provided reasoning behind the club over country stance but I would like to read more, please. Part timer?

Wasn't there a survey done of football fans in England where most of them put their team ahead of the Mrs ?

You know, I was thinking "I can see where he's coming from, but I just don't quite see where his home run is coming from", until you said this.

I tip my hat to you sir, well played.  ;D

P.S.  Just for clarification's sake, Ocarina is legendary, but Goldeneye rules all.

Can some of those who've voted club over country elaborate on why, please?

I think sacko said it best

Australia goes out of world cup to a bad refs call and penalty. I was quite upset

Mariners go out of Grand Final to a ref mistake and a 1-0 loss, almost saddest day of my life

Club = my passion. County = my joy

Im passionate about every single thing that goes on in my club. With my country, its a joy and a pleasure to watch them, but thats as far as it goes. My country will always be around, if I support them or not, but will my club?

+1
Zelda was my bishop taking your queen and Goldeneye was going to be my checkmate.

Club football in today's world of cash and tv is just entertainment. In the UK where they have tradition and history I'm sure it would feel less like mere kicks and giggles. But in Australia we have teams called Fury and music played during corner kicks.
I would not give away a perfect partner for the Mariners, tbh. I would easily pass on a chick whom intended to prohibit me from watching football but that very intention of dominating my affairs so totally would have precluded her from being a perfect partner in the first.

In Australia, I see the Club vs. Country debate being entertainment vs. national pride to an extent.

But, of course, I see where you're coming from Bear. It is a cause that we must rally behind or it's lost. The need for our support makes it more important. But that is true of the national team. Ask the older guard on this forum about the hard times the national team had when the apathy in this nation was endemic and the exceedingly bleak outlook that caused.

And people crap on about how they've supported their country longer than any club. Generally you need to have a country before you can create a football league in it...
