ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Still can't believe we weren't pushing memberships on the night. Should have had QR codes on display, and on the screen before the game or at half time.

Heck, even just "scan this code to be notified when you can sign up " would have been something.

Massive missed opportunity
Thats harsh - you are trying to apply accepted sales and marketing techniques that any well run business would have been across.
You will be telling me they should use the ticketek data for targeted campaigns next.

The other thing about the coast is that it is a commuter town with a large proportion of families bringing young kids. Saturday night and NYE are our best slots.

Last season (as champions) we had

1 NYE game
2 sat night games
2 sat afternoon games
5 Sunday afternoon games
3 week night games - 1 at 5:30pm

So
23% of our games were at favourable slots
15% of our games were at ok spots (assuming not blazing sunshine for the eastern stand)
38% of our games were at poor spots
23% of our games were in abysmal slots

This season as treble winners

1 NYE game
1 sat night game
3 sat afternoon games
3 sun afternoon games
1 sun night game
4 week night games

15% of our games are in favourable slots
23% of our games are in ok spots (assuming not blazing sunshine for the eastern stand)
30% of our games are in poor spots
30% of our games are in abysmal slots

How do you market to follow a successful team when the fans have already spoken and shown when they will turn up but we get very few games that match up with their preferences.
I have often raised the same point.

Given how small our broadcast revenue is. I do wonder if we could as a competition play all games on Saturday night.

The MLS did that over the past two years and its been very successful.

Streaming services unlike cable are more concerned about subscriptions than have product to broadcast over a number of days.

Coasties are very family and very elderly based.

The family based is the long term future as we need the football kids to convert a percentage into their adulthood.

However as mentioned many times is it ‘worth’ dragging the family out if it’s not a significant event.
* Does the game day have appeal for the wife/partner who may be the decision maker.
* Does the game day have enough to keep the kids interested.
* Does the game day have something for the the single guys & girls that may have the disposal income.

When looking at increasing crowds a winning team is obviously not the formula for the Coast.

If we do want to increase the casual number to get from 6k to 10k I believe it all comes down to game day and the ‘experience’ or as mentioned is the Mariners game the best option on the day for an ‘event’!

If you chucked all the eggs in one basket the perfect tag line is:

——— Every game, Grand Final Feeling ———

* Club owned cold spark machines
* T-shirt give aways (Cannon, slingshot)
* Adult cheerleaders
* Dane drive markets, free for stall holders to encourage 20/30/40 market stalls
* Food trucks & kids games on Dane drive where everyone can see so it looks like a festival every game.
All low cost game day things that can be done with only a little council and stadium co-operation on their behalf.

Other Initiatives:
Big one in today’s society is the subscription based membership.
$10 a week for 4/5 months, direct debit setup and the customer pays the merchant fees so not at clubs expense.
(2 failed payments and membership card deactivates, etc)

I have bleated on about this for years. Every match needs to be an event and have a theme. Certain matches, like NYE, needs to be played on certain event days during the year. The club needs to liaise with council and the community to run events simultaneously with games.

I am still perplexed, after all these years, as to why there isn’t a local football round event late January or early February - North v South curtain raiser, clubs with rego tables, sprint races and penalty shootouts consisting of local clubs, each club allocated certain bays, wear your local club colours etc. etc.

While the scheduling and marketing does have an influence so do external factors and on field performance - good and bad.

They must have a heap more footage. Maybe another doco with the focus on football and the community rather than business would go over well.
I'd love to see all the footage they've got but especially the stuff from the 2 GF's. Just give me more of the scenes from players, fans and staff. The final cut focusing so much on Rich's reactions got tedious. There were more dick close ups than a porno.
