ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Did anyone see the community paper this week, the missus said the nufty in charge of the council said something about not renewing the Mariners bluetongue deal....is this person mad, we’re the only regular tenant , I hope she ain’t hanging on the hope of the almighty NRL coming to her rescue
Didn't see it but might give us the courage to build our own boutique 10,000 capacity at Tuggerah and then get all match day revenue plus take events from which blue tongue may get to hold to actually raise some money!!

Surely that cannot be true? Going to organise a street protest if they try to make this happen.

Couldn’t believe those comments from the Mayor, so I’ve written her a very long, very polite email asking for an explanation. If anyone else is interested her email is jsmith@centralcoast.nsw.gov.au and her contact numbers are 4325 8361 (Gosford Office), 4350 5211 (Wyong Office), and 0428 943 988 (mobile, apparently…) You can also find the contacts for your local ward representatives here https://www.wyong.nsw.gov.au/about-council/councillors if you want to contact them instead/as well, and there’s also the possibility of addressing a Residents’ Forum at a Council Meeting if anyone is willing to speak on behalf of concerned Mariners fans. And if all else fails, save me a spot at the protest.

All she says is she didn’t know if they had renewed and then the formal announcement says no haven’t agreed.

Not we don’t want to agree

I read it as trying to fend off our claims for management not being a tenant

The NRL bit was to justify them managing it
IMO

I feel there's a *teensy* over-reaction here. CCM aren't going anywhere and CCC aren't stupid enough to not renew CCM's lease.

If there's more NRL games on that's probably a good thing (provided they're outside HAL season).

For absolute clarity, this is the story for those too lazy to click the link supplied a few posts back and just believe Recky's characterisation of the words:

The Central Coast Mariners have still been unable to secure an extension of their lease at Central Coast Stadium, despite protracted negotiations with Central Coast Council.
The Central Coast Council’s operational plan for the 2017-18 financial year includes $2.03 million of capital expenditure on the stadium.
Stadium projects to be undertaken included $80,000 on directional signage, $200,000 on food outlets, $250,000 on a sound system, $300,000 on two change rooms, $300,000 on public amenities on the East and West Concourse and $900,000 on new screens and a scoreboard.
Coast Community News asked Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith for confirmation that the Council had renewed the Mariner’s lease to secure its future A-League home games at the stadium.
“I don’t know the answer,” Mayor Smith said, and undertook to provide a formal response about the status of the lease.
“I think the critical thing is that the stadium is an asset for the Council and the community, and an asset that we see plenty of potential with,” Mayor Smith said.
“Council is committed to continuing management of that facility, and working with the Mariners, and making sure it gets its best use,” she said.
“It is looking like we are going to attract some more NRL games next year.”
Mayor Smith said a lot of the work that has been included in the Council’s operational plan at the stadium this year was “well underway”, however the tenure of its greatest, long-term anchor tenant remains uncertain.

Most of the questionable language actually comes from the CCN journo rather than the mayor.

I agree with this characterisation. However, as a ratepayer you have to ask do I want to pay for all these improvements when the Mariners have said they will make these improvements at their expense and give the Council a fee for management rights. That sounds like a win-win-win scenario for the Mariners, the Council and the ratepayer.

That's what I love about you Timmah, you're never "too lazy" to act like a total dick. Maybe someone "missed" the post because they were in a rush.

An easy solution for that would be to not hit 'post reply' until one has availed themselves of the facts.

It's the kind of knee-jerk stuff I expect from the great unwashed on the club's Facebook page, not the thoughtful and intelligent fans who frequent here.

Getting mad at Timmah for posting the facts/relevant information? Wow.
Me get mad ..never, but Timmah did say I characterized the story and that to me (and a dictionary) says I made it up ...and I didn’t

You’re right. I should have waited to post until I could read the source and not just go off Reckys post. I usually do. But let’s also be clear, all I said was I’d protest if council were going to screw the club.

So, serious question, do you really have to be so uncharitable and such a douche about it?

Zillion other ways to go about it imo so it pisses me off.
