ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sorry - but the Council has shown

1) that they are not interested in maintaining a modern stadium.
2) that they cannot run the stadium to the standard required by the hirers or the public attending

They also are not maximising their asset on behalf of the ratepayers.
If they cannot do this then it is time to get out of the way.

I'm sure the club are happy he is there. He has a history with the Stadium and connections to the club including familial via Gabby.

How exactly have they shown that? The new council only sat for the first time a week ago - the decision on the screen (and to decline Charlesworth's proposal) was made by the administrator.

I was meaning the Council as an entity - not necessarily the current Councillors. There has been minimal work on it since it was built in 1999. Since they have taken over running the stadium the catering is worse, seats remain broken for long periods - greater than 18 months (probably still not fixed), catering is understaffed, p.a. system is stuffed, screen is stuffed.

You could knock me over with a feather if this council is anything different than previous versions. Highly highly unlikely that much will change

Agree, management rights is probably nothing but a pipe dream, disappointing fact is we can all see how much it would benefit the club and code.

Decent bloke and im glad he got in. An independent with Liberals leanings is useful with current state govt. Also any plus size man that drives a Mini Cooper deserves a thumbs up.
Not making any comment about him being a good bloke or not, I don't know him personally. But seeing the bloke was the Liberal member for Gosford before the last election there's no way he's truly independant.

Should spur the club to look at developing a 15k stadium at tuggerah then eh? Obviously once the CoE is developed and income producing
Can't envisage it would be that expensive...

An optimist might price a stadium at $4k per seat. 15k seats x $4k = $60m.

Interest only at 5% would be $3m, or about what we spend on players.
I'd like to see the proposed 2500 or was it 5000 seater ?? for the COE start to 'break ground' with the proverbial silver shovel.

Would be a good indicator for Charlesworth as to the turn out figures for FFA Cup games, pre-season, visiting international U23's etc. as to whether 'the go bigger' @ Tuggerah is viable for himself, new co-investors or a completey new 'billionare owner' outright.

....... with our Terraces included of course ;)

It's not a real threat. No sane person is going to put up $60m (at the barest minimum) to build a 15k stadium, even as a threat. Might as well threaten to throw gold bricks off overpasses - it's not going to happen.

Small piece about it in football confidential for the A League in today's daily telegraph.

Are the council trying to get rid of the Mariners.

Apparently they have gone and bought a second screen that no one knew about and where there has come from and the first one hasn't arrived yet.

Also mentioned they haven't fixed the PA or built the change rooms. A little blast

Was just at the Stadium, a temporary screen on rigging/scaff?? has been set -up in place to the left of the main busted screen for tommorrows game.

Hilariously, (& wished I took a photo) there's a large fonted black & white sign underneath the busted main screen that says:
"NEW SCREEN COMING SOON"
