For me the game only came to life when the subs were made,having 3 strickers on was wrong matty want to score goal not drop into midfield to defend good on the managers for making the correct subs at the right time,weemac is wasted wide right he should be in the hole between midfield and the 2 top men a link player,we were not at the races in the middle of the park for the first 60mins but after that there was more urgency and the ball was moving a lot faster from back to front,it is nice to see the mariners keep the ball and make nice passes but you can over do it with the passing and the problem is there is no out ball so the ball end up going back instead of going forward with weemac in the hole he is hard to mark and drags defenders out to create space .

Good crowd, good play, some terrible touches and options in the final third. Two out of three ain't bad.

Thing that impressed me most was Mariners making changes early enough in the game to make an impact rather than in the 85th minute as previous years.

Second half particularly after the changes was the best I have seen from the mariners play for a long time. We went forward with pace, we changed the angle of attach very well with some great diagonal and cross field balls. For me Pedj made the difference as Porter would not use the space he had to attach just kept turning back.

I was very impressed with Rose and Hutch looked a different player when he went to the top of the diamond, linked the play together very well. I would say the starting line up next game has to be the finishing one from this week.

I thought the Mariners lack of height in the mid field was a problem yesterday. Wee Mac and Bozanic showed plenty of ticker by contesting those high balls but they simply had no chance. It's the first time I've seen Griffiths and it was a relief to see he is a big lump of a lad. Hopefully he can give us the same aerial dominance in that part of the field that Mile use to provide.

I've never been a real fan of Wilko for captain but he did impress me yesterday. He must have had his angry pills before the game yesterday because he was really getting up his players. The swear words were clearly audible.

In my opinion Rose was MoM. His speed and willingness to run at players when he has the ball is exciting. His combination with Bozanic is great and only going to get better. Both of those lads as well as Dutchy were my top three. All recruited by Arnie were they not?

There was audible "was that wilko" "good on ya wilko give it to them" in the top level of the grandstand after his second blast within minutes. He ripped right into and not before time. He is playing with more confidence maybe Dutchy is giving him that confidence.
Rose was very impressive and although he did show some great skills going forward the highlight for me was his speed in recovering and tackling a tearaway Leckie after giving him a few meters start. That was extremely impressive. He will improve and Bozanic will only get more confidence playing in front of someone who knows what he wants to do. More good things to come this season.

Griffiths impressed me a lot ... TBH cannot see him being left out of the starting team... when he came on the match changed... Hutch moved up tyo attacking mid and matty went up front... but it was the control and confidence at the back that I was so pleased with ... from the 25 mins or so on the field he had all player around him feeding off him and to me anyway both the defense and wide mids relaxed a bit more.

Entertaining game, ref let us down from a great comeback. Rose was very impressive for his first game and should only improve, and Dutchy was magnificant at the back.

I knew Griffiths would be a massive asset for us, he can score too! We are much more dangerous from corners with this guy on the field, in a perfect world we could have him and hutch in the team but once Perez is back even the most Hutch loyal person can agree that Griffiths is a better defensive mid.

Loving our width at the moment, particularly down the left!

Porter was well off on his crosses yeaterday which was a shame.

Good running from pedj, if the same crossing problem.

Fortunately we were getting some joy down the left from crosses.

The 2nd half yesterday,especially after the subs came on was as good as I've seen us play for a long time at home.We put them under sustained pressure and created a lot of chances.Unlucky not to win in the end.
The new signings all impressed me.The dutch guy at the back was a class above anyone else on the park imo.
And I liked the fact that Arnie made his changes early.
If we play like we did for the last half hour and throw our Argie in there as well....not too many teams in this league will beat us imo.

Not even ON the line! Bounced back well out.

Did anyone read Tom Smithies' report of the game in yesterday's Terror? He found it a very dull affair with neither team likely to impress in Season 6.

I must have been watching a different game, because I thought there was heaps to enthuse about:

- Marinators back behind the goal and noisy;
- several new players, all of whom went well;
- some good performances by the visitors (Galekovic, Reid, Pantelis, Cassio and Leckie);
- proactive coaching and shape changing as the game required;
- cautious first half with dramatic conclusion then increasingly gripping second half as home side looked for an equaliser and then a win;
- controversial non-award of a penalty (I actually think the ref was right - handball must be deliberate or play on - cf Harry Kewell - we was robbed);
- pretty good crowd considering the local leagues are still going on Sunday afternoon.

But what would I know?

I wondered the same thing after reading reports.....I left on Sunday very satisfied at seeing a good open and entertaining game and lots of promise for the rest of the season.

I'm not easily pleased either !
