Some of the NPL keepers are on par with AL numbers twos. They are just a little bit older and take the stability of working full time topped up with a NPL wage.

For example, Jack Greenwood at Manly is the best keeper in NSWPL. He turned down a contract with WSW because he has a $150k finance job. Add the approximate $40k he gets from Manly and there wouldn’t be many keepers in the A-League getting that amount of money.

Goalkeepers mature and peak later in life. By that stage they have families and can’t risk the unlikely chance of furthering their careers overseas for bigger money.
