ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

ALM round 20 CCM v WSW

I was angry at the end of this game.

But, now I've had some cooling down time -

We lost to amateur errors and a deflection. We hit the crossbar and had a goal given as a foul but it could also have been given as a goal.

We are definitely more dark years than championship years. There were some bad years where we were playing ok, and bar for some luck could have won more games. But, you create your own luck and in not doing so (particularly the errors) find yourself in this position.

Essentially, I'm feeling jaded by where we are at and not optimistic. But an emotionless think back on the game and it could have gone the other way and we walk away with a (somewhat undeserved) win.

There is hope for future games yet - just not high hopes.
Pretty good summary. I gave up on this year a few games ago, but unlike our dark periods there's decent signs for next year. Most of our better players are kids, under 21s, still developing. We're a decent striker away from having probably three more wins and being right in the mix.

The big issue right now is how static and predictable we've become in attack without a second Nisbet/Ballard/whoever next to Doka. Alfie and Harrison both immediately pass the ball back more often then not, and allow a heap of time for defenses to set up because it then goes Kaltak - Paull. The other big issue would be if we look to sell Doka in the offseason, because we really need to build around him and that would set us back yet again.

Our midfielders don't play the ball forward. When Nizzy and Maxi were there they had the ability to play forward. There have been glimpses of that sort of play from Eames so there is hope he will progress. Is Scicluna a Balard type player?

Edmo and Kuol have been criticised for not being proactive enough particularly in the box and rightly so.However with the slow progression of the ball when we are in possession they are often receiving the ball with their backs to goal. Now really quality strikers can play like this and either bring others into play or can use their bodies well to turn past the defender.Sadly Edmo and Kuol are not in that class.

I like Jacko. But I believed him a lot more in the beginning.
I like him too, but we also have to remember that he was handed a championship winning team (even with the departures, we had depth to cover the loss)
This is undoubtably all RP's fault, the lil pr*ck hang us all out to dry and claims he "still loves" the club, lol.... what a crock of shyte. Bet he doesn't have CCM01 plates anymore either lol

sure Jacko has not adjusted to how we need to setup and play, but this also comes down to morale of everyone.
Also kind of fitting that the slogan "Believe" has also left the chat

The number of times you see either of them make a break when they have a step on their defender only to have to double back because the ball is played laterally or backwards is somewhat depressing.

This is reminiscent of how his tenure at his last 2 clubs has gone.
Results slip, he doesn't change. Gets sacked.
Do plan A better. A much more personable Okon?
I mean, look at Corica when he was at the smurfs they were all(the fans) out for his blood hollering "Corica Out" but would you look at what hes managed to achieve this season (yeah I know, its early days but still good on him for turning his image around)

Yep. exactly why I have given them some slack, sure I get annoyed and what not when they blunder a shot or seem flat footed but there are also plenty of times they make a decent run and get no service what so ever just to see our mid field send it all the way back to the keeper.
I also wonder if we are communicating enough, how many times do you see us dispossessed with team mates watching, wheres the call for man on???? it's astounding

So all we need to do is give him the biggest budget in the comp and bend the rules to get a $1m player loaned back?

We also seem to lack quality when it comes to effective passing and through balls.
Way too many become turnovers.

I don't know if this is just something we need to focus on at training, if we don't have the quality required, or if we are putting ourselves under too much pressure allowing the opposition to press as we do by playing it sideways or backwards while we set for an attack.
But either way it's costing us.

Auckland are going to win this whole thing and we're gonna look like absolute morons to the rest of the AFC when they learn all the exemptions we gave them.
And they can’t play in the ACL. They have the Premiership wrapped up already. Will be hard to beat them in a GF in NZ.

We should be concerned about playing the scum. They have won three in a row now. We could lose the concrete.
How would it work if the scum do beat us in April as we have beat them and now drawn to them. Would the concrete trophy go to the team who has the better GD or will we retain it ashes style?

Good question
The Central Coast Mariners are the current holders of the F3 Derby trophy after completing the clubs first ever 3-0 sweep of the Jets last season, with the bragging rights awarded annually to whoever wins the best of three matches. In the event that there is an equal split of points in a season, the trophy will be retained by the current holders
