ALM Rd 9 vs pub team fc

CCM needs to forget about owning Central Coast Stadium as we already own Campbelltown stadium. Never lost there. 5th December 2021, Bozanic own goal and a keeper injury at Panthers stadium, Penrith. Tonight is the first time we haven't walked away there with a win against the SW Sydney pub team (still undefeated)

Don't know how you can give Paull MOM 3 pts
Ridiculous. Only slightly better than Theo
He was very poor most of the game
Defensively he just did one aggressive tackle all game
He usually just turns his hip and dangles a foot in to try and tap the ball away
He usually heads the ball to the opposition in defence
When he is in attack he misses heading the ball completely
He needs to use his height better
A couple of times he went forward without cover and they counter attack into where he should be defending because he gets caught up field
When Sains came on defence looked much stronger. Hope he will start soon
Kaltak to LCB. Then we are back to the strong defence of Triantis/Hall days

Acceptable away point, could’ve easily won. But it was just the same old story. No genuine goal threat to compliment the consistent chances created. The ball watching for their shit goal was embarrassing and I hope Jacko really lets Kaltak and Paull know about it. But aside from that everyone was pretty decent, plenty of stand outs. The theo hate is laughable, yeah he wasn’t brilliant but aside from a couple fouls he didn’t really see the ball. Relax people 😂
Eames, Alfie, Doka and especially Noah were my picks of the bunch. Noah really impressed but unsurprisingly ran out of legs, his delivery into the box was excellent. We lost nothing and gained a new dynamic with him there. And even though sains only had 10mins or so, Geeze the defence immediately looked more comfortable and solid. We can 100% build from here.

It was one of those rare feelings when you're desperate for the match to last longer because you know we're on top and need a goal.

As opposed to the feeling when you're desperate for the match to end because you fear the consequences of time.

Are you Mrs kaltak? Because you basically blame paull for everything and give kaltak an excuse for every mistake.

Look at where he is on the through ball that leads to the goal. He is way out in the channel and both he and storm are nowhere near their man because they are running towards the ball. There is no need for either of them to be going there. There are 2 of our players closer to the ball than they are.

Defending 101 is when there is no pressure on the pass you drop off and manage the space in behind and get goal side. Even with pressure on the ball you mark tight, not run 5 yards beyond your man.. The 2 attacking players are moving forward and storm and Brian are wrong side and not even aware of the runs. If he gets goal side there he wins the race to the ball and there is no danger.

Paull wasn't MOM but he is improving this season. He got done a couple of times coming across by the pace of Drew, but there will be plenty of players the same - the kid is rapid.

Yeah he missed a couple of attacking headers but that's not his job- at least he is making runs in the box. The question is why aren't our attacking players getting on the end of those crosses.

We play with 2 CDMs, which means that if one of our CBs carry the ball forward they have to provide the cover. If he dribbles into a forward position Steele or Alfie has to drop in to keep the shape (probably Steele as it's left side). They have to have that awareness that if he goes the shape is off and adjust up.

I wouldn't say hate, but I'm pretty sure Jacko didn't say to him "mate we are getting on top here so give away silly free kicks and get a yellow."

He just needs to temper the cranky pills with a bit of common sense and focus the aggro, not just dive in wildly. 🤷🏻‍♂️

. i can't disagree that the old fellas were out of position - but it still seems that Paul is still dropping deep to make up for his lack of speed ... which is completely pointless if your man is not the danger, but those you are keeping on side on the other side of the pitch. he was also in the best position to see the consequences of his actions

. so what is the answer (because it keeps happening) ... is Brian, Paull or Jacko to blame? i'd say, at least some of each

The answer is more work on the training paddock to just get back to basics. Sains will help because he reads the game better than the others. Brian has always relied on his ability to recover rather than always being in the right position.

Paul and smith look to be holding the line - he is shaping directly across the field rather than at an angle which would indicate dropping off - and Brian and storm seem to be moving out of it without need to.

Where were they going? What are either of them possibly going to do? Eames has the guy on half way and they are both 20 yards from the ball.

There is zero need for either of them to be higher than the centre circle when we have a slow backline and they have a fast forward line.

I think Paull is improving as he plays more games - a servicable CB for an AL side but not maybe for one with top 4 aspirations.
Not sure how many of our starting 11 make a top 4 side to be honest.

As for Theo, a look at his stats from last night:

Played 27 minutes
Touched the ball 9 times (including fouls)
Shots 0
Chances created 0
Crosses 1 (missed)
lost ball 3 out of 4 duels
Headers won 0
Fouls 3

We were well on top and looking favourites for 3 points but the 2 attacking subs stopped any momentum and we did well to hang on to a point.

The only time we played to Alou's pace was in the 89th minute and drew the red.
