Imo the biggest disadvantage he has this season is that he comes back to Nrnberg somewhen in August after the Olympics without having had any holidays. So he misses all the pre-season trials and training camps.
It will be tough for him but I am pretty sure he will make it :D

Today was the first training for the upcoming season. 1,600 fans attended it.

The players who played in the EURO, Saenko and Charisteas, and Vidosic and Spiranovic didn't take part as they just arrive in July.

These are our new players:
Neuzugaenge.jpg

back line (left to right):Mario Breska, Michael Kammermeyer, Peter Perchtold, Raphael Schfer, Coach Thomas van Heesen
front line (left to right): Pascal Bieler, Mike Frantz, Chhunly Pagenburg, Ioannis Masmanidis, Juri Judt

I can't tell anything about these new players but I hope they are doing well here in Nrnberg and get us back in Bundesliga1.

happy - when does the draw come out for this season?

i'm checking out ticket prices etc. - i'm thinking we're likely to be in that part of the world in november or so, but can't find the season fixture on the website or the bundesliga site. when does the draw come out?

i saw the prices for your 'dauerkarte' (which i imagine must be season tickets) - 99 euros for a standing place on the nordkurve is cool - no wonder germany's got fantastic crowds at football. that's about 5 euros a game!

EDIT - *AND* that includes public transport!

the draw comes out tomorrow - as far as I know.

The ticket prices in Nrnberg were on of the lowest in Bundesliga1 but now I think that we are top3 regarding the ticket prices - but still quite cheap.

yes, the 'dauerkarte' is the season ticket. Nrnberg reduced prices after the relegation. I pay 175 for a seating place in the Nordkurve - which is still very cheap when considering that public transport is included to Nrnberg from where I live. So we save 6 each matchday.

If you have any questions just let me know.  :)

We finally signed a new player for our defense as Glauber is going to leave Nrnberg.
Jose Goncalves, a Portugese with both a Portugese and Swiss passport will join us from Heart of Midlothian.

He has made several Champions League appearances for the Swiss club Thun.

I don't know.
I am not that up to date regarding the new players. The squad has been to a trainings camp this week though.

The free sale of the season tickets started last Thursday (after there was a pre-sale for all the current season ticket holders). Until today Nrnberg has sold nearly 15,000 season tickets.
The club just calculated with 10,000 season tickets in total. So we have already capped this mark. ;D

We are making progress regarding the strikers.
It was announced today that the Suisse international Daniel Gygax will join us for the next 2 years. He played in this years EURO but I don't know anything else about him.

Saenko and Charisteas want to leave us although they don't have new clubs yet. Charisteas refused to go to Ipswich which wanted to sign him. Saenko wants to stay in the Bundesliga but hasn't any offer yet.
Vittek wants to leave also but our manager Bader said today that the coach van Heesen wants Vittek to stay...

At the moment 16,000 season tickets are sold so far - it is now calculated with 30,000 spectators in average per match...the actual planning before the season was 20,000.

The fans are obviously confident that the team will be at the other end of the league this coming season ;)

Well, I think that is one reason. The sales increased after Pinola said that he is going to stay, if he had left we would not have sold 10,000 season tickets I think.
The other reason is that you save a lot of money with a season ticket even if you don't go to all matches.

After a long search we finally have our new sponsor:
After mister*lady which didn't extend is contract with Nrnberg as a shirt sponsor but will sitll remain a normal sponsor, the nuclear power engineering company AREVA which is located in Erlangen (next to Nrnberg) will dress the shirts for the next 3 years at least.

There aren't any other news on Nrnberg. Saenko is about to leave to Russia and Charisteas will now stay...

Actually, I want him to leave as he has changed his mind as there weren't that much enquiries on him that pleased him.
So I am a bit afraid that the won't be that motivated.

Btw, it is said that Santander from Spain want Andy Wolf to join them and that Wolf is seriousy thinking about leaving Nrnberg...that's concerns me even more... :-\

That is our new away kit with the new sponsor.

6gelcm2y.jpg

It was made at the trainings camp in Kaprun/Austria.
Dario Vidosic misses on that picture as he isn't at the trainings camp with the first team - he is training with the reserves at home in Nrnberg.
Spiro misses as he is with the Olyroos.

This won't be the last team picture as we have signed a new striker yesterday. Christian Eigler, who played for Nrnberg in his youth, joins us for the next 4 years from Bielefeld.

Seanko isn't on that picture as he is about to leave to a Russian club. But the deal is not fixed so far. It is not even sure if Charisteas and Vittek may stay as they both want to leave if they have the opportunity...I think this will take up to the end of August when the transfer window closes...

As Galasek left Nrnberg we bow have a new team captain.
The team appointed Andy Wolf as team captain for the next season. His substitutes are Raphael Schfer and Marek Mintal.
Hopefully, the series end that the captain left after the season he was captain.

Ivan Saenko is still looking for a new club in Russia. But our manager Bader issued an ultimatum that Saenko has to be back by Wednesday if he doesn't succeed til then.

It is a neverending story with Ivan Saenko. He was released from training from the club for looking for a new club in Russia. As he has too much expectations regarding his salary no club wants him until today. So he now has to come back to Nrnberg although no one in the club really wants him back. Saenko missed both training camps and all trial matches since the end of June...

I don't know what will happen now. Our manager has just said that his salary for July won't be paid or will be paid just partly as he hasn't been here.

But on the other hand we do need strikers as we have 4 strikers at the moment but no one is able to score...

Today was the 1st really important match. We played Ahlen away in the 1st round of the German Cup.
It was a really worse match from Nrnberg and we are lucky that we proceeded to the neyt round - after penalties. The first 120mins were 0:0.

As we should get promoted back to the 1st league after the coming season we definitely need new strikers who know where to score....

Btw. I am coming to Australia on Aug 21st and will be at the match against Sydney on Aug 23rd :)
