ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

No one knows if a word she said was true.

No one knows if a word she said was false.

Insufficient evidence, "beyond reasonable doubt". My word against yours with no witnesses is not beyond reasonable doubt.

Doesn't mean he didn't go too far or that she let him go so far, changed her mind and he didn't think she meant it.

So many scenarios, the paper outcome is he's completely innocent.

Would I like to sign him as a supplement to this squad? No doubt.

Would I actually sign him? I don't think you can take the risk.

Would you sign Ruon Tongyik? Similar situation.
I'd hate to be a professional footballer at a nightclub, you'd get hounded by women of ill repute looking for a quick payday.

Perhaps a video of both parties consenting verbally will protect both parties.

As a pro footballer you shouldn't be getting yourself into these situations in the first place. Easier said than done for young men...

Crucially, she sent a text to her sister while in Tongyik's house minutes after the alleged rape.
In response to the sister asking why she was where she was, the woman replied "d***".
"She didn't write, 'I've been raped', 'rape', 'help' or something else.
"That is fatal to the crown case. You could find Mr Tongyik not guilty on the basis of this message alone."

The police and DPP carried out their prosecution for the sake of looking to do something about sexual assault. I wonder if he could sue the police and request FOI about all communications relating to his case as to why they brought this case at all.

While I can't see us spending anything on anyone this season let alone him it might be kind to let him train with us while he sorts out what's next.
Maybe with no contract his visa is up and he has to leave immediately anyway.
Pretty sure he would be wanting to get to the airport before the word appeal or any other issues could arise. Visa or not.

I understand everyones opinions and it’s fun to debate but there is no way he is staying in this country after that

Don't think he'd be allowed. His visa will have expired when his contact was up. Allowed to stay until the court case was heard.
Now he'd have to go I imagine

So the prosecutor conveyed the prosecutions case with a story, and minimal evidence. To infer the prosecutions story as gospel is not only misguided, it's recklessly wrong.

A not guilty does mean his individuals character remains intact, his personal sexual choices don't dictate his character. Your own subjective beliefs about community, family respect don't come in to it. According to a jury of 12 of his peers, he has been cleared of all charges.
'not guilty' doesn't mean innocent. It simply means there is reasonable doubt.

Convicting in rape cases is very, very difficult due to their nature as often being he-said, she-said - and also, defence is based on character assassination rather than facts.

that and the AVO...yeah, don't want a bar of him at our club. Even though the 'no dickheads' policy died many years ago.

For me, a good result on the sporting field means absolutely nothing if that result was obtained by someone with a questionable moral compass.

We all want to cheer for good players but more importantly, good people. He is only one of those.

Wife.
Let's have a think.
Does it really matter who the AVO came from?
Is it not bad enough that he's got one in the first place?

How keen are you on signing a player who has had to face the law on a number of occasions regarding to violence against women?

I know the club lost it's Community Club vibe over the last few years. But holy shit. Let's not scrape the bottom of the barrel.
Jimmy got all of my 3 points here. Close it off.
