ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Im with FFC , if, and I say, if we jag a win over Peru , its gonna be yet more of Arnie and his pick and stick team picking...i mean c'mon, for example, that drongo Mooy has been unemployed for most of this WC campaign , how the f**k do you get picked "on form" if you dont have a contract anywhere?

I'd rather be at a world cup with Arnold than not at all.

This World Cup could be prime for some upsets, not many players have played in Qatar before, could be be time for some Asian nations to shine.
This where Peru will struggle I feel, Doha has been like a home away from home for us. Peru would not have played a lot of games in the middle east.

I'd still rather be at the World Cup than not
Exactly and you don’t throw the youth in at a world cup no matter the hate for Arnie.
You take a few for the experience and the training but you don’t blood more than 1 or 2.

Arnie will be gone after the World Cup and the next coach should be tasked with changing the squad

As much as Arnie has been dire and his selections puzzling if he gets us there he deserves to coach at it. The top 3 in our group were strong it was how we blew the lead over Japan after there bad start that has everyone frustrated with him.

his contract expires after the peru game so is it renewing.
You would imagine not but...
Exciting opportunity for someone. Few decent players in their mid 20's and a decent crop of youngsters to blood.
Need to change the utterly sterile rubbish he coaches.
When you have the best players it doesn't matter how you play. Everywhere he has been where he didn't have the best squad he failed
Miserably

On paper the Mariners squad he assembled during his tenure here would not have been regarded as the best squad in the A-League at the time. That he managed to take it to the Roar with his squad was an achievement which demonstrates he was a talented coach. He also gave starts to Ryan,Amini,Ibini,Rogic and Sainsbury. The contrast in styles between the Roar and CCM made for fascinating viewing. Also I always felt that Roar and Ange having Broich as the cornerstone of their team gave them the advantage.

At Sydney he did have an excellent and very experienced squad and he coached them to make use of their strengths.

I do concede that Postecoglu is the gold standard for Australian coaches but the last WC qualification under him was a very close thing. This was a reflection of a fall in the standard of
our playing stocks

Arnie's selections and use of subs has been very been questionable at times in this WC campaign but the fact players such as Mooy,Rogic,Leckie and MacLaren have been unavailable in this final round of qualifiers has handicapped the team and Arnie's tactics.

He has been criticised for not giving younger players a go.Under his reign Mabil,Deng,McGree,Hrustic,Genreau,Devlin,Stensness,Karacic,Atkinson,King,Rowles and Tilio have received caps.He also scouted and picked Boyle and Souttar.

If we do manage to get past Peru he should be given a short term contact for the finals and then be put to pasture.

TBH I did not think he was a great player for the Socceroos though he always played with heart and passion but do rate him more highly as a coach.
