ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Should Ben Buckley be Reappointed

My thoughts are mixed but what do we think of Ben Buckely... The contract of Football Federation's CEO expires within days, http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/soccer/ffa-boss-ben-buckley-wont-jump-to-afl/story-e6frey4r-1225966004709

In the three years he has been in charge of FFA there has been constant complaints about ground security and the treatment of the HE’s....

Crowds have fallen hugely... the three latest teams BB promoted in were Fury, Fold & Hearts crowds are unsustainable.

Canberra & the Gong screamed for teams and the Rovers are yet to be kicked out after a 18 months or more to fund their funding...

The debate with the AFL over stadium use was IMO poorly done..

Ben appears to be reactionary rather than proactive when dealing with the media.

Scapegoating is easy, quick and not always the right option.

How about we establish what it is we need before establishing whether or not Buckley can give it to us. That things are less than perfect does not directly imply Buckley is the problem.

Yeah good call Dibo - we don't know what else is going on behind the scenes, so who is to say someone else could have done, or could do a better job?

I take your point what would you see as the things we need from our FFA CEO..

Do as Fossie implies we need a business person with a deep understanding of football history in Australia and a deep understanding of football cultural or do we need a person like Buckley deeply experienced in sports management in the Australian context with a track record in sports administration...

Fair enough Dibo, but why shouldn't we blame Buckley? After all, he is the CEO and those things have happened. He doesn't get the big bucks for nothing and if there are other reasons behind this stuff then why hasn't it been actioned or managed in some way? Even managing expectations would be good.

all i'm saying is that he may not be the entirety of the problem, and getting rid of him may not be the answer.

Clive?

I thought Clive had to be taught the finer points of "sockah" when he bought the team, such as they use a round ball and kick it into a net to score?

You must be mistaken.

Clive is an expert in the finer details of Australian Football. I mean come on...what about his state of origin idea!!! The mans a friggen genius!

Sign him up I say.

Lets name the good things he has done..

These are mine ... started the U 14 International team & U 13 state teams in an effort to keep the best in football... has helped establish by good appointments people to run the top 60 players from 6 to 16 .. agian to keep the best players away from other codes...

Has been good at getting sponsorship money in... has helped keep FFA from going under while keeping a number of teams afloat...

HHMMMM thinking ... thinking ...

Lets talk about the good first ..

As an aside for those that said Clive should run FFA I say nayyy ... Con's the answer ...

Personally I would rather someone who knows business rather than football, preferably both but if we need to choose which area is more important, I would say business. Have a look at the AFL and NRL - the NRL is run by mainly Rugby League people, AFL is run by mainly business people. Which one is doing better?

edit: and I think some of the clubs have been calling for a setup similar to this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFL_Commission
