Round III Jets v Mariners

As a side note, massive Lol@The Squadrunts. The thought that we would be cut about never having worn a bridal gown is hilarious. FTR, we've never worn a bridesmaids dress either and why? BECAUSE OUR BOYS DON'T WEAR F**KING SKIRTS!

Also, was that banner hanging from the balcony meant to be Bridge scoring in the GF? Because the bloke on it looked like he was wearing a Mariners jersey!

They've got that win. We created innumerable chances in the second half that we didn't convert, but the team with more goals gets three points. I didn't get to see the first half, but the second was all us.

I'm not that desperately worried - with that many chances having been created, we are bound to start scoring soon. At one point we had four good chances in four minutes.

We came up empty today, but the performance and combinations looked more potent than last week.

There are a lot of weeks left this year.

Well well....
Wrist slashing material first half. The team of last season second half. Just lacked the finish. I feel like I can breathe again.
As I think it was Kareem said, play like that, and they will get points.

Pellegrino did not actually play a bad game. Was doing better than weemac or Ollie with pass accuracy.
But he simply does not look suited to his role and it must change.
McBreen as #10 - and give Bernie the start. It was great. Physical presence in the middle is always nice to have. Ducthy - Griff - MCbreen - Simon... That a strong spine.
Bernie has earned a place, and GA knows it I am sure.

Porter. dear dear. Lad won't be getting much sleep tonight. And it wasn't just the once. Going to have to fight for a spot after this effort surely.
If Sainsbury isn't an option then I think Griffiths has to come back into CB until Wilko is fit. Play Olly at DM, (he was also awful today - though improved second half considerably) Bring in Hearfield as LM or switch Weemac onto the left, and put Hearfield at RM.

Olly might be more comfortable at DM, ever since bloody Aurelio got his hands on him he has looked less certain. Maybe it's the captaincy? Olly mate, your an absolute star, just be brave and trust yourself.

Musti in the frame soon is EXCELLENT news.
Wilko will be most welcome.

Lastly, GA today was fantastic. Clearly tore them a new one which they needed, Then made his substitutes early and incisively.
I loved Lawrie and still do, but watching Lawrie sit too long on his subs used to drive me mental.

Ok, next game, will be a battle. We need to take some points and put on a great show in front of hopefully another decent crowd.

My first away F3 Derby..sadly to say without Hutcho it was just another game & a pretty poor one at that.
Yes we had some chances & the Jets didn`t play great but some of the performances were woeful..again.

Ryan: had a good game & agree with MOM for us but is he ever going to
kick a ball or is rolling/throwing his limit?
Pedj: WTF? Defends ok but the closer he got to the Jets goal the worse
he performed.I`m sure he has some vampire in him.(he hates crosses)
Porter: I felt sorry him. He`s playing out of position & the Jets
players were just waiting for Ryan to play him the ball so that
they could shut him down quickly.
Dutchy: One or our best performers but he`s a bit like Sampson, without
the long hair he`s become mortal.
Rosey: I think his game is suffering a lot because of Olly`s poor form.
Griffo: A solid performance but distribution remains his archillies heel.
Olly: I noted months ago that his general play had gone to shite since
Vidmar has had him.
Weemac: Crap
Pelle: seems to be digging a hole for himself...should do well in yoof.
Matty: always gives whatever he hasbut it`s hard to soar like an eagle when your strike partners a bush-turkey
McBreen:Arnie what were you thinking?

Bernie: lifts the side when he comes on
Hearfield: had a go but not enough time on the park

:piralaugh: What does it say about the team they support when the Squadrunts have to ride on the coat-tails of another teams' success? It's not like Muscat's memorable pole-hitting miss from last year. Honestly, even out of Roar fans, how many would have seen that banner and gone 'Oh, that's McBreen missing the penalty'?

If the roles are ever reversed and the Jest lose a GF at the death/ get a hiding in a GF, I very much doubt we would even mention the opposition team. Silly bogans...

One goal, one point after three games; three games we haven’t looked within cooee of winning. Who would have thought it? We looked like a team trying to run through treacle; movement was slow and laboured and unimaginative. We seemed wary of trying anything ambitious.. There was almost no possession play; there were too many long balls and too much hit and hope. We seemed to take wrong options constantly. It took ages before our midfield gained control of the game. I thought we worked hard but sometimes too hard. The real shining light was Mat Ryan, who seems stronger in build, has great positioning, controlled his penalty area, was faultless in the air and provides the quickest release of a ball you could ever wish to see. And two good, really good, feet.
Zwaanswijk battled hard, Rose has improved a little on his the first two games and Matt Simon put in a busy shift. Bernie provided an instant lift and must start, he has pace and confidence and decent skill. For the others though I can’t offer much praise. Bojic gave us his headless chook impression with an awful first touch; the Porter experiment should be consigned to Buttonderry tip; Griffiths was anonymous in the first half and must lift his game; McGlinchey was rarely involved; Bozanic worked hard but without much to show for it; Pellegrino did ok but he is still Pellegrino and you can’t expect him to be Perez or Amini. McBreen provided no variety just physical presence and must give way to Bernie. Hearfield looked tidy and Kwas didn’t. Arnie’s face says it all – completely confused.

What a load of shite how can you feel sorry for Porter when all he done was give the ball away nearly everytime he had the thing he was in the right back position when he gave the ball to Brockie he should have been dragged at halftime ,Simon gives whatever he has which is not too much he runs about like a headless chicken and when a chance presents itself to him right in front of goal he blasts it over, your comment on weemac just sums up your lack of knowledge of the game of football.

I agree re Porter Stormin. Matty's miss was disappointing an I thought Weemac was average not crap today.
But it's a better place around here if you just disagree and make your points without denigrating the other person's purported knowledge.

Style makes many great posts, and clearly knows football, the only problem I have noted is that he is ALWAYS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY WRONG whenever he disagrees with me.
But you know how that is ;)

Sorry style but McBreen was the Mariners best player, not sure who you were watching?
Agree.

The problem we have is that while Pellegrino is on the park everyone else plays complete shit. He has been bad and no one seems to be able to play with him. Duck the diamond and get 3 strikers on.

Thats a good point remember Perez was pure quality and i think that players like weemac and olly raised there game to play with him,the mariners need to push the boat out and spend that little bit on a quality number 10 there must be money available now that Baird is leaving.

Money is available?

Did I miss something?

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
that was just diabolical....lousy passing, no real chasing, no thinking of end result of actions...It might be just me, but Olly seems to be highly un-decisive, by the time he figures out which way he wants to go, 3 of the opposition are on him......THEN...Bernie came on and they kicked up a gear...if he has that effect, the lad needs to start....can we get a refund on pello??....sad to say Ports year off seems to have made him lose what he was showing before his knee went kablooey....maybe half a year in Yoof would have been better with young trent stepping in for Wilko....did I read that Arnie said it will take 7 weeks for us to jell...., short year boss...7 weeks of losses or draws and it will almost season over.....and know to a regular trip to scumdome question did any of the dole cheat, flanno wearing nitwits perform any felonious acts upon the Yellow Army this year ??

Stepped straight of a plane from London to see that daylight robbery. It was worse than jet lag. Couldn't believe how slow the tempo was for an F3 Derby. Thought we were better than the Scummers (who were overall crap the entire game), but just couldn't convert.

I really like Rose, but he looked totally disinterested and alone on the left in the first half.

Second half when Arnie rang the changes was excellent apart from lacking the goal scoring touch. Cause for hope.

Thought the ref was ordinary and very biased to the scummers.

Bernie is really exciting - a repeat of his GF substitution - a game changer.

If ever there was a game where the worst team on the park by a country mile got a lucky 3 points, this was it. The Scummers were very average, although we made them look good by continually passing to them in dangerous areas.

Matty Ryan seems even sharper\better than last year - amazing!

Gutted.

Saw the game ... must give a big tick to the railway security on Broadmeadow station after the game...

We just missed the 7:12, one Mariner fan was very ignored at the naer miss if you were there it was both funny and silly .... but back to the railway guys ... when a bunch of loud signing jets came onto the station and started up their chants the railways guys just led to them end of the platform and let them sing but not get in anyones face..

As for the game and and season to date ... can't help but wonder if all this talk of our financial position is having any affect... but my two bobs worth is that Musty & Perz created space for the outside wing players and drew players to them... our game plan essentially was focused on a strong number 10... without that strong number 10 we are suffering... As for Brad HHHHHHHHMMMMM am starting to think he will never be more than a bench player he does make a number of silly mistakes ...

When Wilko & Musty return we will be stronger but the replacements are just that good bench players...
