Rescheduled game- Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United

The first of the two rescheduled midweek games, this is a massive clash for both teams since an Adelaide United win will put them one step closer to finishing first- as well as throwing the race for 2nd wide open. The 2-0 win over Sydney FC at Adelaide Oval was a case of not needing to be particularly impressive to get the points, but this can also be taken as a sign of a champion team to get through these kind of games.

Melbourne's win over Queensland was a game characterised by poor finishing from the away team. Sure enough, they'll be relieved to get back-to-back wins following a form slump but know that this game is vital to preserve their own hopes of finishing first.

Adelaide win here IMHO.

We will have to put up with the usual wank commentary, "Grand Final Preview" etc etc and count how many times they mention Adelaides ACL run.

What they wont do is mention that Adelaides football is boring, sterile and a good cure for insomnia

Wont be the grand final IMHO. Dont see melb making it. Though i can see them getting at least a point tonight.

to be fair, Adelaide only made the CWC because it was being played in Japan.  As the host country, Japan automatically qualified.  If it had been played in any other country, then Gamba would have represented the AFC.  Regardless of that,  the A-league GF will be between Adelaide (worthy opponents) and Central Coast Mariners.

The Round 20 game in Melbourne will most likely decide 2nd place, and even then, we'd all have to hope that Adelaide United will have clinched the Premiership before they come to Gosford in Round 21.

Draw would be best, if there is a win it must be Adelaide. Mariners have a better chance against Adelaide then Melbourne in the finals, based on past results.

There is no doubt that the be atmosphere in the A-League is at Telstra Dome. Watching this game tonight is tempting me to try to find some way to get down to Melb for our Round 20 clash. If only it was on a Saturday night instead of Friday.
